Actors who were considered for James Bond Cary Grant Michael Caine Dick Van Dyke Terrence Stamp Clint Eastwood Burt Reynolds Adam West Liam Neeson James Brolin Sam Neill Mel Gibson Sean Bean (played 006 instead) Henry Cavill Sam Worthington Clive Owen
Do you mean Cary Grant? I like the fact that the aforementioned actors were not in the James Bond movies. I like the variety of characters and story originality written in their movies. I wouldn't give that up just to see them as 007.
I went to a Bond movie, 1964, From Russia with Love or something like. Meh! Sean C has done better stuff.
He complains now, but he'll come around when they remake Crazy Rich Asians with Samuel L Jackson and Amy Adams
007 is James Bond. James Bond is not a woman, but a womanizer. Get a (preferably British) black male to play Bond, there are plenty.
it's just a fuckin' movie....hopefully they make a good one. Grace Jones would rock a 007 role...I know Ian Flemming wrote James Bond as a male character....but movie directors and script writers can turn it around...Michael Keaton's Batman movies were pretty far away from the character in the comics.
So your British super spy has to be a guy.....don't watch Tomb raider…..you'll melt when Angelina Jolie shows up in the skin tight spandex kung fu garb....admit it....you secretly want a Mary Poppins James Bond...one that makes tea with crumpets..
Why can't people be upset when one of their favorite stories is tampered with? I was a huge Clive Cussler fan. I read a ton of his books. His main character, Dirk Pitt, was one of my favorite fictional characters. They made one of the books into a movie, "Sahara" with Matthew McConaughey, but they completely butchered the character. Changed huge parts about the story. One major aspect was that Dirk Pitt is a retired Air Force pilot. That doesn't make him any less badass, but Hollywood decided that wasn't cool enough so they made him a retired Navy SEAL. I wanted to walk out in the first 30 seconds of the movie because it pissed me off. So why can't people be annoyed or upset when one of their favorite characters is made into a woman? Or or another race? Nobody is saying there shouldn't be black super heroes..... okay.... some people are probably saying there shouldn't be any black super heroes..... but why can't people be pissed when Hollywood completely changes one of their favorite characters? If Wonder Woman is a great super hero because it shows little girls that women can be powerful, do you think there would be outrage if the next Wonder Woman was a dude?
No argument from me. Let's face it, women are just not as physically tough as men. You can see proof of this in professional sports. They have softer, more gentle skin. They certainly would not tolerate the scars that men take pride in. James Bond has ot be tough as nails. I can see a Black man such as Idris Elba in that role but a woman? Nah, I just don't see it. Let her play in role made for her such as the brains behind some super secret agency.
But that isn't what is happening. The 00s are spies with a "license to kill. If James Bond retires then a different agent is given his 007. Think of it as a number in basketball. When Lillard retires and if someone else is given 0 that doesn't mean that that player is now Lillard. A female (who happens to be black) now has the 007 license to kill. That doesn't mean she is James or Jane Bond. James Bond isn't being make into a woman or another race.
