I'd rather go after a lower usage player than Derozan if we're gonna pair him with Dame/Simons/Aldridge.

CJ for RoCo/Culver/Dieng. Get your starting 3 and your future 3. We take on $6 in salary this year although we can add a few of our minimum contracts to reduce the amount we take on. I offer this in a situation where Simons shows significant promise. Dieng extends one year beyond this season, allowing you to let you to let Whiteside walk. He comes off the books in the year that Dame starts his supermax, and you'll still have Covington at ~12M in that season, as well as Culver on his rookie scale.

In my view, all of these trades built around CJ are a year premature. Simons has a bunch of actual game experience to get before he's ready for a starting role.

what??????????? that's terrible value for us!!!!!!! NO WAY I'D DO THIS!

Aldridge is nearly 35, DeRozan is an overrated chucker

CJ alone has more value than those two combined.

Nah, not if we're taking back Dieng.

Having two guys at non-center positions that cant shoot next to Dame would be a nightmare.

    +1

I appreciate Dame mending fences with LA, but I personally don't see how his game fits Portland's system. Last time I checked he liked the ball in isolation for long 2's. How does that work with ball movement and 3 point shooting?

I think it makes sense for all 3 teams.

Miami has to give up more because of their hard cap.

I would bet money that at the end of this season, we are glad Simons got minutes, but also glad we didn't start him.

Would the clippers trade Paul George for CJ?

Now that Dame's facing amputation, CJ's role on this squad will be expanding.

I doubt it, and I don't even think he'd be a good fit here. He seems to be such at Type B personality who comes up small in big moments.

Say what you want about CJ, but he's risen to the occasion several times when we've needed him, too. He doesn't shy away from the spotlight, for good or bad.

And even if by some miracle the Clippers would do that trade, the Blazers would have to throw something good in. They'd even become less deep.

If the Blazers are trading CJ at this point, they need to get back a couple of solid rotation players.

Looking for teams who are underperforming to make change.

Philly's at the top of the list. But I have no interest in that Harris contract, and Brand just said they aren't trading Ben.

Denver might want to do something.

New Orleans might want to expedite their development.

Pacers facing a big decision with Oladipo's upcoming FA next year.

Nets might have a bit of a logjam with Kyrie/KD returning.

Gotta see what happens to the Clips/Rockets. Those teams are usually pretty volatile and have huge expectations.

Outside the playoffs, teams I think will make good trade partners:

Chicago -- I want Porter Jr.
Cleveland -- that payroll is ridiculous for their team, but they have no one I want.
Sacramento -- Buddy Hield and Bogdanovic need some resolution, and new GM.
Atlanta-- they have a wing factory with all these young guys. Huerter and Hunter might be at the top of my list if they ever become available.

Why would you want to trade CJ of PG? PG never shows up when it really matters.
