im coming around more and more to do what it takes to make it happen. Derozens midrange game might be just the ticket for him in this situation. He can be our Moe and slash to the hoop. Can he defend well? He wouold be needed most to help Dame and CJ secure the perimeter.

that lineup would be fearsome, perhaps as good as any in the league, I imagine defensively it could have weaknesses though, I dont really know DeRozan

DeRozan can’t defend and is the king of long twos. Everything that doesn’t work in today’s NBA.

That lineup would be atrocious for Portland.
CJ, LMA, & Derozon would all be hunting for their shots in the mid-range - taking away opportunities from the most effective offensive weapon Portland has (Dame driving to the basket). All are high-use players. None are above average defenders.

There's a lot if talent with that lineup, just a horrible fit...

CJ is a career 40% 3pt shooter. Yeah, he’s happy taking the midrange if that’s what the defense is giving up, but he’s a stud from 3 too.

I’d rather just give up Whiteside for LA once Nurk is healthy and let Hood start at 3. I can handle one more season of LA at 24 mil but I don’t wanna pay DD 28 mil too.

I wouldn’t jump the gun on Whiteside just yet, let’s seen him on a team with a clear pecking order first.

If we could make the deal when Nurkic gets back and before the trade deadline that would make us as good as any team going into the playoffs. Derozan could be that point forward that we need and Aldridge would be a versatile scorer inside and out and have 4 players that can create their own shot and distribute the ball. Why wouldn't you want that? We would also have their bird rights for re-signing or trading as expiring contracts in the following year. The only draw back is the money, but that's a Jody Allen issue.

I wouldn't give up one 1st round pick for Aldridge or DeRozan let alone giving up 3 1st round picks for both of them.

Our defense would be horrible. I don't like Aldridge as a PF going into his mid-30's. If we're going to give up that much I'd rather go after better fits with Dame, CJ, and Nurk.

Agreed. Giving up a first for a 34 year old big man is just bad basketball decision making.

IMO Aldridge is not worth Whiteside for our current team. And I'm a guy who didn't want Whiteside back when we were his second choice.

The LMA discussion really depends on how much you trust Zach is the “PF” of the future. I find myself still on the fence about if I trust Zach or not, which is probably why I dont have the negative reaction to some of these as others seem to.

    I’ve never liked Derozans game.
