Mentoring alone make Gasol worth it. Wish they could sign him as an assistant after he's done playing.
In theory Gasol might not be needed to contribute much if at all. He's a great character guy (like Tolliver too) who will most likely help the development of Collins and Skal, not try to prevent it. Imagine if Gasol's style rubs off on Collins even a little bit. Gasol is a very cerebral player and if he's able to get on the court he can still help. But really, we're talking about minimum salary guys so I don't get what there is to complain about. It's not like we signed those guys to the MLE or something. What were you expecting this off season?
Cool. He ain't gonna play but I like the vet presence of an NBA champion. Also, obligatory "Neil gets his guys....one way or another." I have literally no doubt in my mind that Greg Monroe will be a Blazer at least once before his career is over.
I read an article a few weeks back that said he felt healthy and ready to play again. Like you mentioned if he can stay healthy he will be a solid addition, especially for the vet minimum.
I know, what is Olshey doing???????? Now he can't use his go to that we're one of the youngest teams anymore!
Bargains--players who were actually worth more than vet min that had no choice but to settle for it. When I see guys like Thabo, Faried, and Monroe all still out there, and we've got Hezonja, Tolliver, and Pau, I feel like we've underutilized an opportunity to pick up players who could legitimately contribute to a title push.
