Duncan was so.....stoic as a player. Not sure how he'll be as an assistant.

I think Duncan will be a terrific coach.

Damnit, I want something to happen. Enough speculation

Portland Trail Blazers: Dwight Howard could be frontcourt cure

Dwight Howard seems to have developed an evolved mindset in the twilight of his career. Is he worth a gamble for the Portland Trail Blazers?

Not many players in the NBA are quite as polarizing as the eccentric Dwight Howard. Don’t take it from me though, Howard even stated earlier this week that he’s “Never had a lot friends, and I’ve always been kind of weird.”

Despite his lack of NBA connections and self-imposed isolation, perhaps no locker room in the league could give him as warm a welcome as the Portland Trail Blazers.

With Jusuf Nurkic expected to be out until February recuperating from his devastating leg injury, Portland desperately needs some help down low to fill out the big man rotation behind Hassan Whiteside and Zach Collins.

Many forget how productive Howard can still be when playing to his full potential on the court, and who could blame them? Howard only played nine games last season after being a casualty to waivers. However, as recently as 2018 he was making his presence felt on the court, averaging 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds per game with the Charlotte Hornets.

Granted, he would have a much smaller role on the Blazers. But there will always be intrinsic value in a player that can pull in career averages of 3.5 offensive rebounds and block 2 shots per game, especially as a backup rotation player....(continues)

Yeah I’m good with Howard, problem is when Nurkic comes back then what? If he’s still getting minutes it means Whiteside isn’t living up to his potential and and Collins isn’t improving. If they are playing well he’s sort of just sitting there on the bench and would he be happy like that and still involved within the team.

Nic Batum’s told me to my face the worst teammate he has EVER had was Howard. Said he’d yell at the team in the huddle that if he didn’t start getting the ball he was going to stop playing defense. He ACTUALLY said this! NO THANKS!

Read somewhere that nearly 40% of the league can't be traded right now because they were just signed to new contracts. And then others who can't be combined in multiple player deals because they were just acquired in a trade. December 15 will open the floodgates.

Sounds like Washington was happy to be rid of him. Enough of a ringing endorsement to not bring him here.

Can't decide if this deserves its own thread, but this makes me quite happy.

Can they just have Charles, Kenny, Shaq, and Ernie do all of it? The weird meme's that would come out of that...

Interesting this comes out the same day as Gasol. Perhaps Neil tried getting Monroe first?

Think it's the other way around. Monroe was plan B... and waiting on Gasol to decide to commit or retire.

The Monroe tweet was at 11AM. Pau's came at 12:51. Woj usually reports these things the moment it happens, I mean Meyers found out he was getting traded from Woj's tweet. The timing to me seems to suggest Monroe was first and Pau was second, but maybe I'm reading too much into this.
