If it motivates CJ to get better, the way it motivated Dame, then it is probably a good deal. If it does not, and CJ isn't able to contribute when the shots aren't falling, then it will feel like a big anchor. I think CJ has enough pride to continue and work on his game to get his overall skill set up to where it should be for such a contract.

He has been very consistent ever since he was inserted as a starter his 3rd season so yes, you are wrong. For whatever reason the scrutiny in the forum on McCollum is puzzling as I would bet if he was on another team those same people would likely be begging for a player of his caliber.

Then I guess it's more of a judgement on Stott's poor coaching, rather than CJ's streaky performance.

Cj has been the model of consistency. He's anything but streaky. Not especially efficient but consistent. You can write down his 22-3-3 in pen every night. There's value to that. And he's our best isolation scorer. Granted it takes him way too many dribbles for him to get to where he wants, he is one of the elite mid-range scorers in the league.

This is what I was looking for, thank you.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. But $100M for 22-3-3? Eh......:smiley-ugh:

It's below market rate for recent signings. Gonna be a good deal when the cap gets higher. Why not highlight the portion of my post mentioning his elite scoring from mid-range and isolation? You do get a spot of good with the bad.

I'm actually the opposite. There's an arrogance about C.J. that I find to be subtle, but I notice it. It's like he really thinks he's too cool for school sometimes. He's also made some hot political takes that I found mindless; though it was befitting the current woke culture and he was unduly praised for it, as other people are so often unduly praised for it. Maybe that is why you like him so much.

That's definitely a strange jump to conclusion in response to what I posted. Stotts lead the team to the WCF. I'd say he did pretty good.

    I don't think that's true, at least it wasn't in 2017-18.

    * CJ scored 1.00 pts/possession in isolation; Dame score 1.05
    * CJ scored 0.92 pts/possession as a PnR ball-handler; Dame scored 1.07
    * CJ scored 0.96 pts/possession off screens; Dame scored 1.04
    * CJ scored 0.81 pts/possession off handoffs; Dame scored 1.14

CJ didn't crack the 80th percentile in any of those categories

CJ might look more clever and fluid than Dame, but he isn't nearly as effective or efficient

    Yay..............

I guess I have to find a new custom title seeing as how CJ's going to be here for FIVE YEARS.

    Sigh....................

Wrong. DAME led the team to the WCF, not Stotts. Without Dame, we're a 30 win team. Without Stotts, we're still in the playoffs.

    Then your imagination is small.

May feel anchor-ish at times but it'll never actually be one. Like Bazemore big contracts will always have trade value and with the soft nature of NBA officiating scoring guards will always be at a premium.
