Not to dredge up a zombie, but just a quick reminder that this ^ still applies.

This post/link is a prime example. :withstupid:

Mods, can you change the thread name to: "Super ABM to Portland thread, now with extra fiber?" then we can have a race to the most posts.

Good idea. ABM, would you please post a fuzzy picture of yourself in some unrecognizable airport?

(This wasn't getting any play in Sly's thread. I'm SUCH an attention seeker!)

Sooooo.......my wife returned from Cambodia yesterday as she was on a business/missions trip. Last evening she's, like, "I bought a bunch of great gifts for everyone...including you, honey!!"...and proceeds to pull purses, jewelry, and the like out of her bag. She finally gets to my presents and described the public market store she was in, all the many items they had...including some in the "behind the showcases" section. So, she then trots out these outstanding name brand (albeit, I'm certain, knockoff) items as pictured, below.

I laughed when she told me how much she paid for these items:

    Omega Watch - $65
    Rolex Submariner Watch - $67
    Oakley Sunglasses - $2
    Ray-Ban Sunglasses - $2

Heh, what can I say. It's very interesting to me, though, that these items look, feel, and operate like the genuine article. Everything there is made in Viet Nam and/or China.

PS: I'm willing so sell the Rolex (if my wife will agree). Those are a bit pretentious/ostentatious, IMO.

I will buy the Rolex if it has a sweeping analog second hand. Is it a smooth moving second hand? Or is it a second hand that moves every second jerkily? That’s normally how you can tell it’s fake.

Completely smooth sweep. That's one of the things my wife and I were marveling at.

Is it relatively heavy? Or is it light and made from something like aluminum?

It's a pretty thick (heavy) watch. I gotta tell ya, though, if my wife finds out what I'm up to....I'll be in deeeeep doo-doo!! She told me this morning, if I'm not gonna wear it, she may want to give it to her nephew...who would LOVE it!

    Stay tuned.

She should give it to her nephew then. I will buy it if you want though.

I even remember lunch at the Teriyaki Barn in Gladstone and our discussion of whether or not Kassandra was a real person or some sort of Catfish scam....

Would absolutely love to connect when you get out here. Let's stay in touch.

I think I said that I was 100% convinced that Kass was not real and I believe you said that you were undecided.
