I did when I was 10 but by the time I was 12, not quite a teenager, I grew out of it. Of course, I had an advantage, I had a brain.
We all knew Reagan was racist. What's a welfare mother? A racist Reagan invention pitting white people against poor blacks. Fuck him.
Two assholes trying to mask their racism by acting like nice guys.....problem is only one was an actor who could pull it off. I've known about Nixon since I was 18 and worked for him....giant paranoid asshole who lived in fear most of his life.
Yes Reagan was nearly as racist as LBJ, who was easily the most racist POTUS in my lifetime. I'd put Nixon ahead of Reagan also, but the actual policies of LBJ firmly and deliberately established African Americans as second class citizens dependent on the government for everything imaginable. Murdered a President to become President and re-enslaved African Americans who had been free for a hundred years.
Trump has done more for minorities than any President since Lincoln, and he didn't kill 500,000 Americans to do it. No other President comes to mind as doing anything but harming minorities, or just ignoring them. BTW, a reminder that Dem 2020 Candidate Tom Steyer, among his many other sins, was the guy who bribed Kitzhaber's wife, then later "bought off" the fake prosecution of the former guv. Sleazeball Kitzhaber and his evil queen are now Bend residents and created quite a stir during the investigation when someone videoed them dumping a truckload of documents at Knoww Landfill.
LBJ, the man who pushed through the Civil Rights act and the Voting Rights act is a racist. Hmmm, I wonder if this holds water. Nah
There are literally 100s of quotes from LBJ where he uses the N word. He was the worst kind of racist.....if there can be one worse than another, and that is one who pretends not to be Fuck him
No words of derision for Nixon who did worse? Now, how about Trump? At least LBJ did something to help these fellow human beings. What did Nixon do for them? What has Trump done for them?
It's a comparison. Also, wondering why you want to focus on LBJ and not others who did far far worse. Did Nixon or Trump do anything to improve the lives of Blacks the way LBJ did? I'd like to point out that those where the days when pretty nearly everyone on the South used the 'N' word freely. It was a normal part of the lexicon. Not a good part but a normal part. Now, compare Lyndon's use of his lexicon with some tremendous effort on his part to actually improve the lives of Blacks in a truly meaningful way with his use of the 'N' word. If you were a Black, which would you rather have an improvement on his lexicon or some real improvement on Black lives?
I'm wasn't focusing on him, Maris was. I simply said he was extremely racist when you used civil right deal as an argument. IMHO, every politician is a piece of shit in some way
And I was giving you a salient example of how he wasn't a serious racist and was in fact helping Blacks. Why can't you accept that he helped Blacks in a monumental way?
He used blacks to help himself and the democratic party. He referred to blacks as furniture, for fucks sake
He is saying hey look Democrat presidents were racist too. Its a deflection, true as it is, and takes nothing away from how racist Nixon/Reagan were, and how racist Trump is.
That is funny! Back in that day, I remember one of my development managers talking to me about how great Reagan's actions were for Black people. She was a Black lady herself and she thought getting Black women off welfare was the greatest for they future good. I think she like the President more than me. Perhaps she was smarter than most though. Ha! I had her manage all my senior guys! They were nice as hell to her! Ha! Just what I had in mind.
We're all racists to some degree but I would define the term in general language as being worse than that. I would say that both the Civil Rights act and the Voting Rights act which he fought very hard to get passed into law were great marks in his legacy. Certainly he had some built in racism from his childhood in Texas but he worked at overcoming it. No, not perfect but a hell of a lot better than any Republican of the time.
