KEX (iirc) I love listening to republican fear-mongering radio. Great, GREAT entertainment. It's almost on par with some of these threads on S2.
Good post, and it explains my vote for Obama. I do care about the social issues, but my main reason for voting is I believe the best way to bring back a strong econmy is to follow the basics laid out by Obama. I remember a stong economy from the Clinton years and I remember the disintegration of our economy resulting from Bush. People may not agree with me, and thats fine, but that is how I view it and why I voted Obama. The trickle down economics is a bad path to follow so I think lets not go that direction. I also believe in a progressive tax and do think that we now need to raise revenu some, so getting it from the wealthier Americans only makes sense. I believe we can cut many of our social programs, but that the cuts have to be surgical and I think many of the proposals by the republicans were not meant to cut costs as much as they were designed to reduce the future viability of the programs. Some that voted for Obama did vote on social issues, and there is nothing wrong with that, but many many of us actually think that Romney was a slimey douche who just wanted to rig the economy to continue to benefit the wealthy while leaving the middle and lower classes to fend for themselves.
Romney's strategy worked. He wanted people to vote on the economy, and they did. They decided that the economy was so fucked they needed to suck at the teet of government and didn't want the flow of milk interrupted. Our country is now different from what it was. It's never coming back. It's a limited, but guaranteed, future for all of us. Congratulations on being equally miserable.
These young Republicans are now 18+ and some have taken their strong GOP beliefs, fueled by Republican talking points, to the extreme: "Ethnic cleansing."
