That gear is nothing. A few handguns and a rifle. Big whoop. And that body armor is soft armor which means it would only stop a handgun round at most. Any kind of rifle round would go right through that. I see no reason to assume that he was up to no good. He is famous... or was famous. I can see why someone would want to protect themselves.
Illegal in Brooklyn I assume you mean. I believe the big one would be classified as an AR pistol, since it doesn't have a stock. In free states that would be legal with the magazine of over 10 rounds. Actually a very nice home defense gun for those that don't like recoil. Almost go my mom one.
It really depends on why he was transporting it. To take home from the store for future use it isn't very much. For an hour at the range to practice, it also isn't very much--for those of us that like to practice. I'm assuming that he wasn't just taking it home from the store or heading to the range though, from the outcome.
Not sure, you may be correct. But it may have a folding stock on the right side we can not see. It was called a rifle in every report, not an AR pistol. BTW, not the weapon I have for home defense, or, see a need for home defense. That is an assault weapon.
To each his own. I respect those that choose not to own guns as well as those that prefer different kinds. AR pistols have longer barrels and are significantly more accurate than any normal pistol. I would hope to never have to use one defending my home, but if I did I would want the most accurate one I could find.
AR Classification???? Administrative Regulation Classification? Allergic rhinitis classification? AR as in AR-15 means Armalite as in the brand name. AR is not a classification and it does not mean Assault Rifle. On top the silver/chrome handgun is a .45 1911. They are very common and very reliable. On the top left is a Glock 43. Also very reliable The one in the middle is a newer Scorpion EVO 3 or 4??? It is considered a pistol but it is far from a simple hand gun. Yes those clips are way too big without a permit. The gun on the bottom looks like an ACP .380 or maybe a PICO .380. That looks to me like an ACP Taurus but i can't be sure? Anyway you look at it he was wrong and this was a stupid move.
They were white and had Fox News and Trump on their side. Telfair was a talented young man in an adult world he wasn't ready for. Turned out he was not qualify talented enough for NBA and didn't seem to know anything else but basketball. I sincerely hope he can straighten out his life.
Wait wait wait. Telfair was young in 2007 yes. But now he is 34 years old and should have known better. Felon with a gun. This is simple. Got nothing to do with Trump or Fox news. This was plain stupidity.
Just looked it up, you are correct. The middle weapon is a Scorpion EVO. But it gets into the gray area of the federal gun laws. If it does not has a stock attached, it is classified as a pistol. It is possible to attach a stock to this weapon, it then becomes a rifle requiring the special license.
A quick reminder: he was let go by the Celtics after a very brief tenure there for the same thing... and that wasn't his first problem with guns: https://www.espn.com/nba/news/story?id=2847755 He was a complete idiot coming out of HS, believing in his own NY playground legend BS. Apparently, he hasn't grown up.
Honestly I cannot speak for New York gun laws but I can for Washington and Oregon. Federal rules only apply to transportation and sales across state lines. So yes huge grey areas. But here that is a high volume hand gun. The max clip is 9 rounds +1 . So just the clips alone get you in trouble unless you have the permit for them. You can never conceal that weapon and to transport you need to have some form of locking mechanism. There is no Stock so to speak but there is a side grip for two handed use as the barrel will get hot.
He better hope his accountant doesn't go on permant vacation to the tropics with all his money while he is inside.
My intent of this post is to keep people out of trouble with the gun laws, not to win a friendly arguement. The Scorpion EVO can be purchased with or without a stock. If purchased without a stock, one can be added. The two versions have completely different regulations. Without a stock, it falls under the pistol regs. With a stock, it falls under the Fed and in many states (if not all), their short barreled rifle regs. Not sure about OR, but WA reg RCW.9.41.190 states It is unlawful for anyone to own, have in their possession, buy, or sell a short barreled rifle, or, covert a weapon to a short barreled rifle. Unless in compliance with Fed laws. But then again, sharing a cell with Telfair maybe loads of fun.
