https://bleacherreport.com/articles...om&utm_campaign=editorial&utm_medium=referral Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins' season could be over before it even begins because of a knee injury he suffered during a workout in Las Vegas on Monday. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported Cousins will undergo final tests that are expected to confirm a torn ACL. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Cousins left the court while working out after "'bumping knees' with another player."
Hopefully he has made some good investments and didn't just bank on the assumption he'd be making a lot more money in the league. Seems like his body is telling him he's done being an athlete. It happens early for some.
Players should look at this and think hard about taking bird in hand. Dude coulda signed a huge, maybe max deal, instead messed around and will most likely make a fraction of what he could of.
Before he was traded to the Pelicans. IIRC Boogie made his intentions clear. He wanted to stay in Sac and sign the max. There was even a video of him crying after he got traded. Seems like Boogie wanted to change his families life. Not win a ring. Which is fine and not a knock on him.
True shame. It must be depressing when you are basically a lock to get a max contract or close to that, which would be like $150million or something, get injured and end up making $8million over two years. He might not get another deal at all. Similar to IT, he might have got over $100million contract after his best Celtics season and he ended up getting minimum deals for the next two years. And he wasn’t even that badly injured.
You'll be crying all night over this Laker setback thread.....sucks if you're a LAKER FAN! I like Boogie......basketball gods did not want him to be a Laker I'm guessing...I don't feel sorry for his finances...he's been set for life on the salary he's made if he didn't blow it. It ain't like he's living on a social security check.
He's under contract, insured to the hilt and will get paid millions to fix his injury....money problems are the least of his issues...he might have just had his Greg Oden last gasp career wise and if he does come back...he'll be more Al Jefferson than AD...
Yeah, he's made $89 million in his career so far. Injuries like this definitely suck, and he's lost a lot of *potential* money, but $89 million is enough to set up him and future generations of his offspring for life, so let's not act like he's not still a blessed individual.
