I haven't looked into this really at all, but I trust you, so what is the deal with this? Is there any particular reason why to buy Greenland? Do they want to be bought? I have really no opinion whatsoever on if this is "bad" or "good".
Its also not the first time Trump has thrown a bunch of shit on the wall so people dont see what they are standing in. So bad
I was just (ironically) referencing the below quote from the debates after I read that his idea of buying Greenland was immediately met with a response from Denmark, something like, and I'm paraphrasing: "Lol. Gtfo." “We’re going to win. We’re going to win so much. We’re going to win at trade, we’re going to win at the border. We’re going to win so much, you’re going to be so sick and tired of winning, you’re going to come to me and go ‘Please, please, we can’t win anymore.’ You’ve heard this one. You’ll say ‘Please, Mr. President, we beg you sir, we don’t want to win anymore. It’s too much. It’s not fair to everybody else.’ And I’m going to say ‘I’m sorry, but we’re going to keep winning, winning, winning, We’re going to make America great again.”
Which is a lovely historical anecdote but does not dispute the claim it is just a distraction gambit one bit...
https://www.yahoo.com/gma/trump-calls-off-trip-denmark-prime-minister-shoots-010400925.html “Based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting,” President Trump wrote in a tweet Tuesday night. LMAO Trump is mad he can't buy Greenland. Called off trip to Denmark. So much winning
The U.S. must take Greenland by force On Sunday, Trump confirmed that he would be interested in buying the territory from Denmark and that “we’ll talk to them” about it. “Essentially, it’s a large real estate deal,” Trump explained, reasoning that Denmark might be willing to part with the huge land mass because “they carry it at a great loss.” The great Danes reacted indignantly. “Greenland is not for sale,” Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen proclaimed on a defensive visit to the island Sunday, calling the idea “an absurd discussion” and saying “I strongly hope that this is not meant seriously.” Fighting words! There is only one proper response to such intransigence: The United States must take Greenland by force. https://www.sltrib.com/opinion/commentary/2019/08/20/dana-milbank-us-must-take/
But a U.S. attack on Greenland would meet the definition of a just war. It would be an act of self-defense against a violent people: Erik the Red, who founded the first European settlement in Greenland, was exiled from Iceland for his murderous ways. Besides, Greenland attacked us first. It was 1,019 years ago, give or take — and they still celebrate it: In the town of Qassiarsuk, according to the website VisitGreenland.com, stands a bronze statue of Leif Eriksson — one of Erik the Red’s sons — on the site from which the Viking departed to invade North American shores. Greenland hit us again, in 1912: It is well established that the iceberg that sank the Titanic originated in Greenland.
The great poet Marcellus (that one from Hamlet, not Pulp Fiction) famously said "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark". And thus it was written and the great general Donald (bone spur) T. rode on a golden encrusted beast to cross the Appalachian mountains and concurred Denmark and the people rejoiced and forever sang his praises. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Denmark, SC 29042/@33.3142973,-81.1565605,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x88f922953d3b574f:0x3c9e6189fa043a7f!8m2!3d33.3226546!4d-81.1423236?hl=en
Greenland would be his contingency plan after he loses over half the country...he might be able to keep about 13 colonies
