I will enjoy this team Gorton has built banging the Devils, Islanders. Flyers, Penguins and Crapitals up the ass for a decade. This team should have two, elite franchise offense talents in Kappo and Kravtsov joining an elite franchise talent in Panarin and border line first center in Zibanejad this season. Best farm in hockey by a mile. An embarrassment of riches on defense and goalie in the system. This looks to be the team Rangers fans have been waiting for, forever.
It will be nice for once watching this team knowing they got the best player in the draft in Kakko. Holds the puck like Jagr did but without all the drama and sulking.
First pre-season game on Wednesday...wow! This is as excited for the start of the season I have been in the last 5 years, still trying to temper my expectations but, they won't be nearly as unwatchable as they were last year.
I agree. Devils made a huge mistake not taking Kakko. Hughes will probably be a Barzal type. Kakko has a chance to be a Jagr type. Huge difference.
Couldn't care less about the Devils. I get it that these two are going to be compared much like Crosby/Ovechkin are. But, the talent that surrounds the players have just as much to do with the success of a player as their own skill does. I think at this time there is more offensive talent/support for Kakko than Hughes. Either way, we are years away from knowing which was the better pick.
Both will be outstanding, top 10 players in the league within 2y. I'd like to make the playoffs this year but that would be amazing if they somehow ended up with one more top 5 pick to get a player like Raymond.
I don't know about 2 years for Kakko. No way for Hughes. Physically he's a child. He shouldn't be playing in the NHL until he's at least 20 and 15 pounds of muscle heavier. He's going to get pummeled. Hughes should play in college for at least 2 years.
Yeah i agree that Hughes needs at least one year away from the NHL to get stronger, though mentally he's probably there. The Devils will probably throw him in anyway based on the hype and the fact he's already better than 64% of their forwards.
With the number of dmen in camp I don't understand his strategy unless he wants to start the season in the AHL.
