Spiller helps No. 16 Texas A&M to 62-3 rout of Lamar

Freshman Isaiah Spiller made sure there was no drop-off Saturday night in No. 16 Texas A&M's first game without Jashaun Corbin.

Spiller ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns as he took over as A&M's featured back in the first game since Corbin sustained a season-ending hamstring injury and the Aggies cruised to a 62-3 victory over Lamar. Spiller had touchdown runs for 1 and 34 yards.

No. 9 Florida rallies past Kentucky 29-21 in SEC opener

Initially stunned by seeing Feleipe Franks lying in pain on the turf, Florida players soon swarmed the cart carrying him to uplift him -- and then each other.

The No. 9 Gators then regrouped behind backup Kyle Trask to overwhelm Kentucky for an emotional victory.

Trask relieved the injured Franks and rallied Florida with three fourth-quarter touchdown drives, including his go-ahead, 4-yard scoring run with 4:11 remaining that lifted the Gators to a 29-21 victory Saturday night.

Burrow clinical, No. 4 LSU downs Northwestern State, 65-14

LSU coach Ed Orgeron had to play starting quarterback Joe Burrow longer than planned after a more competitive first half than expected against Northwestern State.

So Burrow seized the opportunity to post another impressive statistical line that will only help his cause if he winds up in the running for the Heisman Trophy.

Burrow completed 21 of 24 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns, and fourth-ranked LSU pulled away in the second half for a 65-14 victory Saturday night.

No. 3 Georgia romps to another win, 55-0 over Arkansas State

Now, the real season begins for No. 3 Georgia.

Finishing off a dominating run through their first three games, the Bulldogs romped to a 55-0 win over Arkansas State on Saturday. Jake Fromm threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns before taking the rest of the day off, while Georgia's defense turned in a dominating performance.

Missouri uses opportunistic defense to beat South Carolina

As Missouri senior linebacker Cale Garrett prepared to answer reporters' questions after a 34-14 victory over South Carolina on Saturday, he reached for the remote control clicker on the table in front of him in the Tigers' meeting room. For a football film buff, it's a habit.

Nix helps No. 8 Auburn over No. 17 Texas A&M 28-20

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn was pleased with the performance of Bo Nix in a victory at Texas A&M on Saturday.

What made Malzahn even happier is that the freshman quarterback will likely be with him for a long time to come.

Nix threw a touchdown pass and JaTarvious Whitlow ran for a score as No. 8 Auburn built a big lead and withstood a late charge from Texas A&M to get a 28-20 win over the 17th-ranked Aggies.

Burrow slings LSU-record 6 TDs in rout of Vandy

LSU always has played stingy defense. Now the Tigers have a high-octane offense and no plans at all to slow down anytime soon.

"Score, be aggressive," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. "That's our mentality. We're going to be aggressive. We're going to go get it. We're not slowing down for anything."

The Tigers' aggressive approach paid off Saturday as Joe Burrow tossed four of his school-record six touchdown passes to Ja'Marr Chase and threw for 398 yards, leading No. 4 LSU to a 66-38 romp over Vanderbilt.

No. 9 Florida routs Tennessee 34-3, extends series dominance

Florida coach Dan Mullen had some advice for Kyle Trask before the junior quarterback made his first collegiate start.

Mullen told Trask to relax and have fun. Then Mullen offered one more tidbit.

"If you're really nervous, we can fix the nervous problem," Mullen told Trask. "Go out there and throw a bunch of picks and play terrible and you won't have to be nervous -- you won't play no more. We'll fix that problem."

Trask chuckled, then stepped onto the field and showed he belonged.

Trask threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns in his first start in nearly seven years and No. 9 Florida beat slumping Tennessee 34-3 Saturday, extending the Gators' dominance in a series that used to be the most prominent in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division.

Georgia tested, 'persevered' against Notre Dame

On a raucous Saturday night between the hedges, No. 3 Georgia held on for a gutsy win that might have ramifications all the way to the College Football Playoff.

For No. 7 Notre Dame, it was another big-game loss but a performance that should bring more respect.

Jake Fromm threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Lawrence Cager early in the fourth quarter and the Bulldogs survived for a 23-17 victory that was much tougher than many expected.

Mond-Davis twice for No. 23 Texas A&M to beat Arkansas 31-27

No. 23 Texas A&M had a chance to really take control early when big defensive tackle Justin Madubuike intercepted a pass at the goal line.

That's just not what happens when the Aggies, even when favored by more than three touchdowns, play Arkansas. These games are always close.

Kellen Mond threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns, and Quartney Davis' second TD catch put the Aggies ahead to stay in a 31-27 win Saturday over Arkansas, which drove to the A&M 19 in the final minute before a fourth-down incompletion.

Trask, No. 9 Florida handle FCS's Towson in Swamp, 38-0

Kyle Trask was perfect early and a spectator late. He broke a school record in between.

He had no idea about how good his performance was until coach Dan Mullen's wife told him on the field afterward.

Trask threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, helping No. 9 Florida beat lower-division Towson 38-0 Saturday and extend its winning streak to nine. He set a school record in the process.

Defense, Dowdle lead South Carolina to 24-7 win vs. Kentucky

    - Rico Dowdle and Tavien Feaster like sharing the football, especially when it leads to South Carolina victories like this.

Dowdle and Feaster, the Gamecocks' two senior tailbacks, both ran for more than 100 yards and accounted for three touchdowns as South Carolina (2-3, 1-2 Southeastern Conference) snapped a five-game series losing streak to Kentucky with a 24-7 victory Saturday night.

Nix helps No. 7 Auburn rout Mississippi State

After its defense led the way through the first four weeks, Auburn made a statement on the other side of the ball Saturday night.

Seth Williams had eight receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns, JaTarvious Whitlow ran for three scores and Bo Nix had his best game in an Auburn uniform in the No. 7 Tigers' 56-23 victory over Mississippi State in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Ole Miss runs away from Vanderbilt in 2nd half, wins 31-6

The temptation to look to the future is understandable for Mississippi coach Matt Luke. After all, the most productive skill position players are freshmen, and a rebuilt defensive unit is filled with first-year starters and newcomers filling key roles.

But he refuses to ignore the present day possibilities of his young team.

Jerrion Ealy and Snoop Conner each had big touchdown runs in the third quarter to help Mississippi pull away from Vanderbilt for a 31-6 win on Saturday night.

Lamical Perine, defense lift No. 10 Florida past No. 7 Auburn 24-13

Lamical Perine was too slow to play for Auburn three years ago, a hurtful evaluation that's stuck with him.

He showed plenty of speed while running away from the Tigers -- and a few guys he played against in high school -- in the Swamp on Saturday.

Perine broke loose for an 88-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, Florida's defense delivered another gem and the No. 10 Gators beat seventh-ranked Auburn 24-13 in a matchup of unbeaten teams.

Fromm helps No. 3 Georgia trounce Tennessee 43-14

Georgia came from behind for a second straight game and continued its recent domination of division rivals.

Jake Fromm threw two touchdown passes, Georgia's defense delivered a dominant second-half performance and the No. 3 Bulldogs recovered from a slow start to beat Tennessee 43-14 on Saturday night.
