Monya was the second player that came to mind but I don't know why I thought he was going to be any good to begin with. Maybe because he smoked cigars and was cool idk.
Great thread! I'd put Victor Claver on my list and Batum...I thought Layman was going to stick and his first year I actually had big hopes for Meyers Leonard. I thought Steve Blake would stick at least two times.
YES! Great pull! I really liked watching Wake Forest back in the day with Childress and Rodney Rodgers and then later with Childress and Tim Duncan his last couple years. He was another guy who had knee problems though so who knows what could've been.
Man, it's been like 10 or so years; but I've got to go with that one dude. Umm, what was his name??? Oh yeah, Anthony Tolliver. I always felt that sooner or later, he'd kick some major ass, playing for us...... ~thread winner~ Lol
The Blazers didn't draft him...he went undrafted. But, yeah I have wondered about him. He has a chance now doesn't he.
No we didn't draft him. He was a Blazer, and did play two games for us 10 years ago. That's why I chose him. He's gonna kick some major ass, and make me look like Einstein! Nah. I still wouldn't look like Alfred. Maybe the hair, but that's about it.... Edit: So was @Wade Garrett just talking about people we drafted, or any that played for us? We didn't draft Miles, and a couple guys picked him.
this will really date myself but Wally Walker. I wasn't the only one in Oregon who missed on that 1976 draft: 5 POR Wally Walker 6 BUF Adrian Dantley 7 MIL Quinn Buckner 8 GSW Robert Parish 13 WSB Mitch Kupchak 23 MIL Alex English 25 NYK Lonnie Shelton 29 SEA Dennis Johnson Ron Brewer and Jeff Lamp fell well short of expectations (mine) and, I don't remember how many off-seasons it was I expected Batum to bloom next year. Never did and Harkless picked up the torch
Walter "fucking loser" Berry. Watching the draft he continued to slip as he was expected to be somewhere around mid top 10 and he ended up sliding to us at 14th. He had won several awards so he was very high regarded and then the press conference came where he basically said he didn't want to play for the Blazers and would leave as soon as his contract was up. He was quickly dealt to the Spurs for Duckworth so it all worked out well and Berry was out of the league in 3 years. We definitely dodged a bullet.
eh past two years Nards has been a solid NBA role player. You're not alone on the island. People just are slow to come around to that fact. What he becomes in MIA who knows. As all the interviews I've seen with him, they've yet to give him a basketball role. Even went so far to ask what was expected of him and didn't get a straight answer.
Eh, I don't think that was such a bad miss. Every single one of those other guys is out of the league today. barfo
