Isn't it based on this year's cap? I know it's a percentage but the year is confusing. If it's next, then it won't matter if the cap drops
hmmm....15% and the cap would be dropping from 109M this season to 99M. The tax line would be 121M. A lot of teams, including Portland, would be in real binds seems pretty extreme though ********************************************** https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-nb...op-due-to-situation-with-china-003037770.html "A drop in the cap would also impact the starting figures for maximum salary contracts, which range from 25 to 30 to 35 percent of the cap." that seems to go to what the platypus said about Dame's contract. A 15% drop would move his supermax 1st year salary from 43.8M down to about 37.2M. It probably wouldn't affect CJ's new contract though
What about "Make America Great Again?" chants? Its a slippery slope when it comes to mix politics and the fan experience. There should be zero tolerance, because then the events just become places for protestors to attention whore for themselves.
As much as I want to support Hong Kong in this, I've always been very firm in my belief of leaving politics and social issues out of sports for this very reason.
The key word is starting. Dame's contract is set in value the moment he signs. That's why he could've potentially made even more if he waited to sign but that looks like it could go the opposite way. So max contracts signed next summer would be better value for the team then any signed this summer under this scenario. I've been saying for years the NBA needed to change this to always be a percentage of the cap so every 30% player makes the same amount. Instead like last year you have max players like Kawhi, Klay, and Jimmy Butler making around $20 million on max deals and others like Otto Porter making $25-$30 million.
yeah, If I'm paying good money for seats and some fuckface starts chanting about hong kong: 1. I'm telling them to shut the fuck up. 2. If they don't shut the fuck up, I'm going to assault them.
Dame's new contract hasn't started yet though. Why shouldn't the new cap figure impact the starting value of a contract that starts that year?
Time for Blazer Fans to suck on them little chinese nuts now that it can affect our team's future cap flexibility!
Eh.....I personally wouldn't go that far. I don't believe in using violence to suppress someone's beliefs, even if I disagree with them about something. BUT....I would find a legal and peaceful way of removing them from the arena, which Security and the police can legally do because it's private property, and I support private property rights. And if the protesters resist, whether passively or aggressively, then they should be removed by any means necessary within the scope of the law and operating procedures. I will say though that I, like you, would be pissed if someone 2 rows behind me started screaming protest chants at the top of their lungs during a game. And seeing as this is Portland, then unfortunately it's bound to happen at some point this season.
Just an example of how bold and aggressive extreme lefties and righties are, with in your face diplomacy and reckless participation with social media.
Its important for Chinese to save face immediately when they feel wronged. They then use their response as leverage to get something. Sorta like my wife does with me when i piss her off?
