Doctor Sleep - The sequel to The Shining is coming out soon to theaters. I enjoyed the book immensely and looking forward to the movie. Also looking forward to the TV series versions of: The Stand The Dark Tower (based on the 4th novel - Wizard and Glass)
Wow, I don't know whether to proclaim that he's got some serious mental issues or to say "What an ass hole!" He better never knock me over like that or there's going to be some serious consequences that he will not like. Okay, I would have meant that when I was in my early 50s but now I'd have to hit him with my cane or throw my walker at him. Thanks a lot, now I'm in a bad mood.
I didn't mean to do that. He's a fantastic actor. I don't know what he's like as a person most of the time. He was obviously an asshole in the video. I can understand being upset and saying one F bomb. It's quite a bit different saying it multiple times in several minutes during a tirade.
And then knocking someone over is over the top. I don't go for that kind of crap and I would have made a point of it.
If it means anything, that was just a reenactment of a tape where Bale went off on a lighting guy. Im not sure there is any real video of it just audio, and he has apologized a bunch of times.
Christian Bale has such a distinct voice. One heard the audio I knew it was him. There was no doubt about it. I was listening to it with my friend from Ireland while I was teaching in China. It gave us a good laugh.
Movies I am looking forward to but likely to wait till the dvd's come out. Top Gun 2 and being a huge racing fan and growing up in the era the other is Ford vs. Ferrari. I had a GT40 slot car back in the 60's when slot car racing was huge and we had a shop in the Hollywood district close to where I grew up that had 3 or 4 tracks to race on.
I know this is an "upcoming" movie thread. That acknowledged, my wife and I are planning to see Ad Astra this evening. I was just wondering if , for any that have seen the movie, you liked it, or not. Thanks for the indulgence.
OK, well, Ad Astra has come and gone in our area. Go figure. Anyway, we've decided to go see Harriet. Looks like a good movie based on Harriet Tubman's life. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harriet_Tubman )
My gf and I saw it. Thought it was thought provoking but still would only give it like a 7-7.5 out of ten.
It really kills historical movies for me when everyone looks way too current... Hairstyles, facial hair, all that detail, I saw this trailer yesterday and thought parts look really good, but too many of the actors look like 2017 rather than 1917.
Star Wars: The franchise that hasn't had a new idea in 30 years. I could write the redundant next script: Bad guys create a new super weapon. The rebels have to destroy it to restore balance to the galaxy. Rebels go on a must-win/can't win mission. Obstacles get in their way. Someone realizes they are more powerful than they knew. Hero and Darth/Kylo/Palpatine/bad guy face off. Dead Jedi imparts wisdom. Rebels somehow find the only mistake in the Empire/First Order/Whatever Its Called's plan. Rebels attack the weapon. Rebels win (for now.) $10 million please!
I saw it. I didn't care for it. There was too much dry monolgue. I appreciated some of the aspects of the film... Spoiler The free fall from space. The airline to the moon/Airport on the moon, chase scene on the moon...some of the cinematography of space and the planets...the Stanley Kubric vibe. But, it wasn't really an attention keeper for the most part. I got bored. Wasn't terribly entertaining. He goes to all that shit to get to his dad, and then his dad offs himself into the gravity of Neptune. Then he goes home? The threat didn't seem very real. The movie felt very anticlimatic. Glad he found the true meaning of life though and got back with his lady at the end.
Where's the movie thread actually for movies that are already out? I can't find it. Anyways I just saw Star Wars on Thursday and Knives Out on Friday. I enjoyed the latter an immense amount more. I'm not a huge fan of any Star Wars movie so I wasn't offended by anything but it was just absolutely nothing special. Like Star Trek Into Darkness, I won't remember any of it in a few months and I'll never watch it again. Knives Out was really enjoyable for me though. For what it was, it couldn't have been much better. Looking forward to seeing Uncut Gems, hopefully in the next week. I got the Regal Unlimited Pass, I need to out it to good use!
