“Those who were convinced of Trump’s uselessness for Russia ought to think again...What Washington got out of this strange move is completely unclear. To the contrary, what Moscow gained from this is self-evident...Trump’s mistake in Syria is the unexpected ‘lottery win’ that further strengthened Moscow’s position in the Middle East and undermined America’s prestige as a rational political player and a reliable partner.”

Remember when @jonnyboy said I was crazy for the whole Russian “conspiracy” with regards to Turkey/Syria and how it benefited them. That was funny.

Desperate propoganda by Putin and the Dems.

Putin got punked big time by Trump, left alone as the prime warmonger on the world stage.

Any country that wants to step in and support the Kurds, or the Turks, is welcome. It's a fool's mission, just like every other endless war.

Maybe, just maybe, Putin's stupid enough to bite. :dunno:

Remember when the Soviet Union collapsed due to losing the Soviet-Afghan War? Good times.

Oh for sure, I bet Putin is terrified of being considered a war mongering dictator. Totally out of character for him. I hope he finds a way to live with a bad reputation. Putin has played Trump like a fiddle.

Geez! I can't think of a thought possibly so ridiculous as to think the US needs to have forces insuring the civility of people in Syria/Turkey. The place is on the other side of the damned earth from us. Who the hell has any loss of prestige in the US by allowing the neighborhood to be organized by the neighbors? It can't be done any worse than the Brits did a 100 years ago, and we do not need to try. If you have ever been there doing any work, you likely find it difficult. I sure did, and I was not doing it for prestige.

Back in the 70s when I was the former Product owner of a Transportation software package, a Freight line (trucking) Damascus Baghdad to Riyadh implemented my system. I was working out of the Palo Alto system center at the time and traveling all over but not to the middle East. But they wanted me to come to Damascus. The State department strongly suggested I meet with them in Riyadh, the only place they could help me if it came to trouble.
No, I do not think we need to fix that either.

I don't want one more day of occupation there by one man of regular forces.

Trump himself doesn’t think about Russia as much as you do.

What is the incentive for everyone Democrats disagree with to be Russian assets? Does Russia just pay better? Is there any evidence to back all these claims of Russian alliance? Do we just yell ‘Russia!’ now when somebody says something we disagree with?

everyone? Or just when there is clear evidence relating to a particular person? Like a totally nonsensical decision to abandon Kurds to Russia’s benefit?

The fact of the matter is, we made a bad mistake going into Iraq, taking out the strongman that gave the region some sort of stability. Despicable tyrant he may have been. We fucked up!
I did not like it at the time, but on the other hand if those dudes were on the verge of having Nuclear Weapons then we must. Well you know the rest of the story. And there is not one reason
to carry on with US presents in center of this region.
But a continuation of thought here, We can not allow more of these Nations that look upon us as Kaffirs (Infidels), the great Satan, to have nuclear weapons.
So with that view, I give Bush a pass, possibly mislead by intelligence of the day. So he fucked up taking out Saddam.

Now nearly 20 years later, Trump says, enough! We are getting out of Syria! Yeah!

Then I see people conflating the idea of more forces positioned to help the Saudis resist Iran!
Damn strait the right plan! We must support all the help we can get to keep Iran from getting Nuclear Weapons.

We survived nearly 70 years with the Russians aiming Nuclear weapons at us, I am going to let you all guess at why.
I do not think we will survive with Iran targeting us with Nuclear weapons! We just can't test the theory. I know how they think they could win. We could not.

I don't think anyone is accusing him of thinking much. That's the problem.

No, we yell Russia when Russian bots support a US presidential candidate.
It doesn't necessarily reflect badly on Tulsi, as it may be beyond her control/desires, but it's a fact that Russian online activity is supporting her.

Stein was guest of honor at RT event where she criticized the US but refused to say a word about Russia rounding up, arresting and torturing gays.

Oh I dunno, can only guess the F15 squadron might come in handy to keep the Saudi oil flowing to Europe while Iran oil is not.
