I don't believe that at all. Why don't they currently do it? I am 100% sure most American born NBA talent would rather play in the NBA than in China no matter how much they pay.

You really, honestly believe that NBA players would rather play in China if offered more money? The only reason that Chinese players don't come here is that their government won't allow it, and our market isn't big enough to accommodate them; hence the reason why only the best basketball players in the world get to play here.
If the money was right yeah. We act like oh their ultra competitive and want to be here because of that, but their actions say they all want to create super teams. I dont think this will come to that, but yeah I think if the NBA did what sly said that China would be willing to spend to beat an American company.

Man, I couldn't disagree with you more on this one. Plenty of stars have been offered huge contracts to ditch the NBA and how often do they take it? Why would someone who can make more than enough money to make a living here in America want to go live in a country where the citizens don't share the same freedoms unless no one in the NBA wanted to sign them anymore? Some things are more important than money and it has nothing to do with competition. Besides, if China wanted to why haven't they then?
I answered that, they've had no reason too, until recently they've been working with the NBA. It's not like the government of China cares if NBA wants to come over there if it's mutually beneficial to both, which it has been. If the NBA tried to take on the Chinese government good luck with that. People like money and if the NBA was over trying to make an Asian league to challenge China, my guess is the chinese government would get involved to make rediculously lucrative offers to NBA players to actually try to pilfer them, no way the chinese government is going to let an American company come to Asia and try to show them up. Yeah I think there are NBA Players who would be willing to go too if the money was right.
Maybe one or two, like with players who play overseas versus in the NCAA but there is a 0% chance (and if it was possible it would be a negative % lower than zero) that China could ever build a league that became more relevant in America than the NBA.
Dude, I think you are grossly underestimating just how bad it is in China. They have nets between factory buildings to stop people from jumping off and committing suicide; something which they do on a daily basis by the dozens, depending on where you go. Foxconn is a good example. But of course you don't hear about it because of state-run media. The workers sure talk about it though. My father once told me a terrifying story about how he was accosted by a peasant woman there while on his way to lunch after visiting customers at Foxconn. She was screaming in mandarin and crying, begging my father to take her starving children and give them food. A bunch of police showed up within moments and beat the shit out of the woman and carried her off somewhere. He was warned about this by his coworkers, and did his best to ignore the woman, even though she was hanging on to him, because he knew that if he gave her so much as a glance, the police would cart her off to a gulag and shoot her. He cried that night in his hotel and couldn't sleep; he was that traumatized by it. China took many years off of that man's life, and thousands out of his wallet. No NBA player would take money over freedom. I promise you that. Or if they did, they would be in for a very rude awakening.
No kidding it wouldnt be more relevant in America then the NBA but it could really cost the NBA a lot of their Asian market, they make a lot of money over there and the NBA isnt the NFL here, the NBA relies a lot on its global brand, even if it just hurts the NBA brand here they’d be fine with that.
I know about China, I basically lived with a Chinese family (the parents) who had escaped from China during Mao, my best friend growing up was their son. I'm aware, but I think you really underestimate how much China is not going to let an American company show them up in Asai, and also how much Money talks. I don't think it's going to come to that, but again if the NBA decided they were going to make an Asain league to show up China, China would definitely retaliate.
Fine, let them retaliate. But the results will be the same....nobody would rather live in China for more money. China would have to survive with it's own players and leagues, and they would never get any marketing outside of China, thanks to censorship and state-run media.

They'd have to pay one hell of a lot of money. Have you seen what American NBA players earn? And American NBA players would suddenly earn a lot more if a bidding war erupted.
Trump's tariffs have China's economy reeling. Worst setback in decades. They're so far back on their heels right now that having the escalating Hong Kong debacle getting international media notice with the rising pressure on companies in cahoots with them to divest is an immediate and credible threat to their nearly completed plan for world dominance. The NBA is going to have to at least pretend to pull out of China, suspend all business with them and the companies based there. Because Americans playing an American game in an American league should not be wearing uniforms made by Muslim slaves in labor camps.
There's plenty of players to go around. No one will miss LeBron if he wants to go play in China. And no one will know or care if Chinese teams end up being better than NBA teams. barfo
