So you're saying this post: Is antisemitic and bigoted. And that Riverman hates Jews. And because the mods won't agree with you we are also antisemitic and biased. I have given your posts, claims, and accusations much more serious attention than I feel that they deserve but out of respect to you, this forum, and our hardworking staff, I feel I have done my due diligence. While I'm pretty sure that all of us have Jewish friends I do have one that was an assistant director of the UJA, the United Jewish Appeal. This organization works worldwide on subjects such as antisemitism. I made sure to just share the post and your concerns about it without her getting any opinions from myself. Again, as someone who has spent part of her career fighting against antisemitism, she does not find @riverman's post to be antisemitic at all. Actually she found the entire thing to be quite funny. Now I don't for a minute think that you actually believe your own claims and accusations. I honestly feel you're only using that as an excuse and justification for your own insults. "If I accuse someone of being a bigot or an antisemite then it's okay to call them one." It's not. Also, I am publicly rejecting this latest claim by multiple members of the forum, both liberals, and conservatives, that if a post is personally insulting to you that means it's a personal insult and justifies you to insult them back. If a post is truly insulting to you then contact the staff or me and we will review it. Do use it as an excuse to insult others. @MARIS61 because of your insults to members and staff here and because with the start of what looks to be a fun and exciting Blazer season starting in just a few days I've decided to give you a small break from the forum. Please feel free during that time to contact the Blazers, the press, your Jewish friends, about your claims of antisemitism, bigotry, and bias by members and staff of this great community. See you in 2 weeks. Go Blazers!
No, it had absolutely nothing to do with anyone in here. However, I interpret bigoted as having to do with an opinion regardless of reasoning. As I pointed out, I've already done my reasoning and it was extensive and growing more lopsided by the day.
Honestly, when I read the title to this thread I thought it was about this guy. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't. I'm not surprised it turned into a turd pile. Who knew, Animal from the Muppets was Jewish.
I hope he wasn't referring to me as being antisemitic. I have a host of Jewish friends including a Rabbi currently researching the Dead Sea Scrolls and probably the top neurosurgeon West of the Mississippi. I might add that one of my Jewish friends is a technician in my dialysis unit and I have taken him to Blazer games at my expense. Lesser known are doctor David Perlman Emergency Medicine Physician and Martin Packouz whose parents owned Packouz Jewelry in Portland as well as Bruce Director, stock advisor in NY City, cousin of owner of Directors financial services co. No, I have nothing at all against Jews.
Here's thing thing Lanny (and everyone else). Maris doesn't actually think you're an Anti-Semite. It's a character he's doing, thinking he's being funny or clever, or at least edgy. For whatever reason, it's what he thinks is making a point (whatever the point is). Don't take anything he says with anything more than a grain of salt. He's like Stephen Colbert, in weird theatre of the absurd kind of way. Here is a perfect way to describe it (stolen from the Wiki page on Theater of the Absurd) "Logical construction and argument give way to irrational and illogical speech and to its ultimate conclusion, silence"
I still and always maintain that anyone who defends and even admires the occupant of the White House, who said Nazis are "very fine people", has zero credibility to call anyone else anti-Semitic.
I'm Jewish, and there's nothing anti-semitic about comparing this presidency to a low budget Coen bros. movie (although it is an insult to the Coen bros if anything.) Brother @riverman is as good as it gets around here.
I do have a racist bone. It's the left 5th metatarsal, and the doctor says there's nothing that can be done about it. barfo
I love the Coen Bros movies....I think the "low budget" tag was the trigger...they can make reality look so absurd and clumsy so I guess that was my sorry assed attempt at humor.
walnut has solidarity unlike bleached white poplar which splits and falls apart with any pressure....you made a good choice.
I hope that's true for myself, but man I wish I could say it as confidently as you do. I want to be accepting and treat everyone as equals and I think I do ok at it, but there's always like a tug in me that thinks I need to be better, it honestly drives me to work on it. To keep my head from getting too big, because it's easy to start looking down on others, not sure if it's racism, or sexism, or whatever but I hate when I realize I'm not treating people well, whatever the reason is.
I am also Jewish and I don't even know what a Corn brothers movie is. If I was supposed to be offended, guess my ignorance of popular culture prevented it.
It's something that was drilled into me by my peers in my early youth. Consequently, I fight it every day of my life. It really is pure evil whoever does it.
