And I'm just not a fan of that, because it comes at the expense of the team. He's a chucker.

I would, at this point, much rather have Ant starting at the two.

There is no way for him to shoot up to the middle of the graph vertically, only horizontally.

CJ is who he is, a scorer who doesnt do much else very well and makes a lot of money. He's a good teammate, friends with Lillard, and is right in his prime. Everyone in the league knows this as well, so what are you going to do with him? What does MN do with Andrew Wiggins? Whats the market for him? I wouldnt be opposed (never have been) to trading him, I'm not sure what you would get back, but if you can plug in Simons at the 2 and get more of a need back, you do it. I still think he's a really good player, but unfortunately CJ thinks he's a REALLY good player.

I think McCollum could really help some teams. He really helps the Blazers when Lillard is out.
The problem is Simons is never going to be a star coming off the bench, and he shows potential to be one. He could be the high efficiency shooter that would be great alongside Lillard.

So now you gonna try to tell me he cannot get a number of steals and a few blocked shots and some defensive rebounds and not move up the graph vertically? Maybe i'm reading it wrong but how exactly did Baze get where he is? If this is actually team numbers while on the court then are you also going to tell me there is no way for him to move up the chart vertically? They are 6 games into the season. Please tell me how these numbers cannot change in the next 6 games?

CJ has never been close to the middle line vertically in this graph for his whole career. I will be the first to give you credit if it happens after I pick my jaw up off the floor but he's not a good enough defender to ever have to worry about having to do that.

Oh I understand then. I thought it actually couldn’t happen? I agree it probably will not. Actually I agree it won’t happen. CJ just is not going to change.

I didn’t think there was a way CJ could go lower on this graph but after tonight he’s definitely lower...

If the Blazers were going to trade CJ I'd be looking at Kriss Middleton.

CJ will eventually get hot (while his teammates stand around and watch him dribble....dribble...dribble....step-back....crossover....step-back...fadeaway) but it's not how you consistently win basketball games against quality opponents. This has been an issue for years and is getting worse. His assist percentage is sliding down a steep hill and his defense is brutal at times.

The most he can help this team has been through a trade. Been saying that for years and don't see anything that would cause me to change my mind about that. Unfortunately, he has been signed to a contract that is now an albatross. He may be great friends with Dame...but on many nights, he is also an anchor holding the team back in one way or another.

So far this season, I think you could swap CJ and Ant's minutes and we would probably be better off. I can't really say Ant is playing worse defense than CJ.

I'm guessing that "the best we could get for CJ" is getting worse by the minute.

Send CJ and a first to the Pelicans for Jrue. Then send Hassan/Zach to GS for Dray after Feb 3rd. No I’m not serious but I’d do both trades.

    Dame
    Jrue/Ant
    Hood/Baze
    Dray/Skal
    Nurk

is that 8 man good enough to make it to the finals?

I wonder if the Magic will trade Aaron Gordon for CJ. Their offense is completely sputtering and in desperate need of shooting. Gordon has also started the season in rough shape like CJ.

Gordon + any one of Ross/Fultz/Aminu/Augustin would work. Gordon is also on a declining contract, which is nice.

Another option is swapping CJ for Tobias Harris. We would have to add a bit of salary filler on our side because Harris makes more than CJ....the tax hit would be crazy.

So now the idea is to trade a Blazer Vetrran who is struggling that we know will have his share of good games and is considered a huge part of this team for a player that is struggling and has no idea at all what to do in this offense and may never get better?
This seems like a bad move?

Yeah I’m not a CJ fan but he’s worth more than Gordon.

That is quite the spin. Gordon fixes a lot of positional issues we have, as well as giving us contract flexibility for the future. Even if you believe that CJ is the superior player, which if you go by the last few years, is arguable, I don't see how this is such an egregious proposition outside of being attached to CJ as a person.

After making such a big fuss about retaining our guys and believing in our system and building the culture, etc etc etc, there is absolutely no way in hell Neil cuts bait on CJ before his extension even kicks in.

This isn't Jerry West and Blake Griffin.
