Two good points. I can’t say you are wrong. 8 million doesn’t really seem like a bunch in today’s NBA. But it was more that the Blazers could offer.
Probably right not every team needed him but I’m pretty sure he would have gotten more offers had he not taken that one with Dallas. It was a good spot and Carlisle runs a similar offense to Stotts that he could do well in.
He was never a number a #1,2,3 talent that was going to draw attention but he was gonna get paid. We all knew it.

I wasn't really thinking about that; I just want to revamp the team and try to make it stronger, while two key players heal. Maybe more watchable, for me at least.

Also Seth probably didnt like it in Portland to be behind Dame and CJ, i mean he struggled to get shots, as one of the best 3 point shooter in the league, jason quick wrote that curry for long time didn't know what his role was, i remember how many times he was wide open with outstretched arms and the players didn't pass to him, i'm sure he was frustrated here

He isn't starting in Dallas either.

First play of the game: "He hasn't made a 3 yet this season... UNTIL NOW !!!"

I thought, well that's Portland playing against scrubs in a nutshell.

I didn't want to be right though,

I made a clear point that Curry had a player option and would’ve stayed with us if he had no other offers. I don’t think you know what hyperbolic means.

Curry actually didn't have a player option. It was first reported that he did and there was confusion most of the year if he did or didn't but then towards the end of the year both he and the team clarified that he didn't.

Also, player options have to be picked up or declined before free agency so he might not have fully known the interest level.

Fact still remains. He did pretty well and he got in with a good fit for himself. i guess $8 million over four years fits in my book.

Yup, as you mentioned we couldn't come close to matching that offer (most we could offer is $5.7 million) so we had no chance to keep him.

I agree with a ton of what you said. I'm guessing you jumped in the middle of the debate which is why you find my question shady. My entire point is that when you roll out a team whos' starting forwards would likely rank bottom 3 in the league, you're open to having shooting nights like tonight. I think to jump on any one player or coach for the poor defense and shooting the last two games is very short-sighted.

I have never objected to the fact that Hood and Collins were designed to being the starting forwards. I would object to the fact that those two would be in the top 20 of starting forward combinations in the league. Whiteside (not the long term plan) is also a below average starting center. When your entire front court is below average, you're going to look below average many nights.
