These advance stat things should always be taken with a grain of salt, but it's interesting how well Dame grades out here: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-nba-player-ratings/ CJ grades out as one of the most dissapointing: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/whos-up-and-whos-down-in-our-nba-player-ratings/
I would do a Kevin Love for CJ swap. He's from Cleveland and he can chuck to his hearts content down there.
How much wood can a CJ chuck? At the rate he is playing, even with Love's injury history, I wouldn't think twice about such a deal.
Dame has absolutely been playing like the best player in the league this year. CJ is much better than how he has started this season. None of his floaters have been falling but he'll fix that. I give CJ utmost respect because of what he did for us in Game 7 in Denver last season. He rescued Dame and the team.
Lamar Hurd said the other day that the game is just too easy for Dame right now. I couldn’t agree more. This is the best/easiest I have ever seen Dame play. I think he is the best player in the league right now. Whether he or others keep or change their current form for the whole season is another matter. I feel that I’ve always been patient in terms of success, prioritising long term sustainable success over short term decision making. But seeing Dame’s form at the start of this season is starting to make me impatient. The time for an “all in” push for a championship is now.
I agree, it feels like Dame is kind of just playing too unselfishly right now. He's kind of just letting the flow offense run until he feels like we're down too much. Then he tries to take over. Good for us in the long run I guess, but leads to losses in the short term.
Lillard needs an efficient shooting backcourt mate who promotes ball movement by more catch-and-shoots like you see from the Klay Thompson. I think we got a guy on our team right now that fits perfectly in that role.
Dame kind of looks like 28 year old steph, difference is the team around him has played awful defense...
I just can't think I could have ever heard an observation like this from a coach I have known, or a winning PG of the game.
If Dame keeps up this level of play for the rest of the season, he should easily win league MVP. If he played for any team other than Portland, or maybe Toronto, then he would. But he plays for what the national NBA media considers a backwater, so his play will be underrated, and undervalued. Prove my preconceived biases just as wrong as wrong as yours National Media, prove them wrong.
My brother was at the game in SF. He said it appeared to him that Dame could score 60 or 70 every night but he’s desperately trying to get his teammates going.
I feel that Portland, and Toronto are by far the least respected franchises in the league. Thus IMHO Dame would have a much harder time winning MVP than Antetokounmpo.
