Russo, Temple upset turnover-prone No. 23 Memphis 30-28

The bass speaker was pumping loud enough in Temple's locker room to rattle the lower hallways of Lincoln Financial Field after the Owls go done making some noise in the American Athletic Conference.

Anthony Russo threw two touchdown passes and Temple took advantage of four turnovers by Memphis to upset No. 23 Memphis 30-28 on Saturday.

Buechele sets career marks as unbeaten SMU tops Temple 45-21

SMU's improbable season remains perfect thanks to an aerial game that eliminated some of the high anxiety last seen when the Mustangs took the field.

Shane Buechele set career highs with six touchdown passes and 457 passing yards as No. 19 SMU improved to 7-0 with a 45-21 win over Temple on Saturday.

No. 21 Cincinnati holds on for 24-13 win over Tulsa

The Bearcats were going nowhere, and now their best running back was limping off the field, giving Gerrid Doaks the chance he'd long awaited.

The junior running back who's been beset by injuries took the game into his hands and kept the 21ST-ranked Bearcats unbeaten in the American Athletic. He ran for a pair of touchdowns and turned a short pass into a 28-yard score as Cincinnati held off Tulsa 24-13 on Saturday.

No. 23 SMU bounces back, tops ECU 59-51 in another shootout

If there was any concern about a letdown coming off a first loss that changed the course of the season for No. 23 SMU, it disappeared in another wild, high-scoring game.

Shane Buechele threw five touchdown passes, Xavier Jones broke one of Eric Dickerson's school records and the Mustangs bounced back by outscoring East Carolina 59-51 on Saturday.

No. 17 Cincinnati stays unbeaten in AAC, routs UConn 48-3

A couple of close calls against overmatched opponents got Cincinnati's attention. The 17th-ranked Bearcats made sure the lowliest team in the American Athletic wouldn't stick around very long.

Desmond Ridder threw for a pair of touchdowns and Michael Warren II ran for two more during a dominant opening half, and Cincinnati remained the only unbeaten team in AAC play by routing Connecticut 48-3 on Saturday.

White throws 5 TD passes, No. 18 Memphis beats Houston

Down early against Houston, there was no panic on the Memphis sideline.

The Tigers remained poised because they knew they would respond.

Brady White threw for 341 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another score and No. 18 Memphis overcame a 10-point first-quarter deficit to beat Houston 45-27 on Saturday.

No. 17 Cincinnati rallies to beat South Florida 20-17

No. 17 Cincinnati’s latest fourth-quarter comeback had a familiar ending.

Sam Crosa kicked a 37-yarder field goal as time expired Saturday night, giving the Bearcats a 20-17 victory over South Florida and at least a share of the American Athletic Conference East division title.

No. 17 Cincinnati beats Temple 15-13 for AAC title berth

A blocked extra-point attempt turned into Cincinnati’s decisive points. In a season full of close escapes, this one was the most unusual.

And the most meaningful, too. The Bearcats’ year of living dangerously has culminated in the American Athletic title game.

Michael Warren II ran 13 yards for a touchdown on a cold, raw Saturday night, Coby Bryant went 98 yards with a blocked extra-point attempt and No. 17 Cincinnati held on for a 15-13 victory over Temple that clinched a spot in the league’s championship game.

White throws 2 TD passes, No. 18 Memphis blasts USF 49-10

One more win and No. 18 Memphis will get another crack at playing for the American Athletic Conference championship.

The Tigers shrugged off a slow start to beat South Florida 49-10 Saturday and move a step closer to another AAC West division crown and a third consecutive berth in the league title game.

Perry leads Navy past No. 21 SMU 35-28

At one point in a tight game against No. 21 SMU Navy quarterback Malcolm Perry approached coach Ken Niumatalolo about giving someone else the ball.

    Not a chance.

Perry found a seam and scampered 70 yards with just over six minutes remaining to break a tie and Navy beat the Mustangs 35-28 on Saturday. It was the culmination of a banner day for Perry, who generated 357 yards of total offense. He finished with 195 yards rushing on 38 carries with two touchdowns and completed 9 of 15 passes for 162 yards and another score.

No. 17 Memphis tops No. 18 Cincinnati 34-24 to host AAC game

The Memphis Tigers marked off their first 11-win season along with the 500th victory in program history all in the same game.

Now those are almost afterthoughts with the Tigers' sights set on much, much more.

Brady White threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns as No. 17 Memphis beat 18th-ranked Cincinnati 34-24 Friday for the Tigers' third straight American Athletic Conference West title and the right to host the league championship -- and the Bearcats again -- next week.

Navy ties school record with 11th win behind QB Malcolm Perry's 213 rushing yards

Navy built the biggest turnaround of any team in college football this season by relying on the nation's most prolific rushing attack.

So, naturally, the 21st-ranked Midshipmen won the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Tuesday by completing a fourth-down halfback option pass in the final minute.

CJ Williams' 41-yard completion to Chance Warren on fourth-and-3 gave Navy first-and-goal from the 5-yard line. After quarterback Malcolm Perry spiked the ball, Bijan Nichols kicked a 23-yard field goal with two seconds remaining to give Navy a 20-17 victory over Kansas State.

No. 13 Cincinnati rolls past Austin Peay 55-20 in opener

No. 13 Cincinnati had to wait a while to kick off its season. Once it got started, the Bearcats found their stride in a hurry.

Gerrid Doaks scored four touchdowns, including a career-high three rushing TDs, and Cincinnati beat Austin Peay 55-20 on Saturday in the Bearcats' season opener.

Gabriel, No. 13 UCF beat East Carolina 51-28 in AAC opener

For the second straight week, Dillon Gabriel and No. 13 Central Florida had no problem running their fast-tempo offense and rolling to big offensive totals.

The Knights just need to start cleaning up some of their penalties, too.

Gabriel threw for 408 yards and four touchdowns to help UCF beat East Carolina 51-28 on Saturday, winning its American Athletic Conference opener for the fifth straight season in a game marked by the Knights' offensive brilliance and its early trouble with pre-snap penalties.

No. 15 Cincinnati rolls past South Florida, 28-7

Cincinnati wanted to establish the running game Saturday against South Florida, and an early fumble by Gerrid Doaks didn't discourage them from having the senior running back carry the load.

Doaks ran for 102 yards and a touchdown, Tre Tucker returned a kickoff 97 yards for a score and No. 15 Cincinnati had five interceptions in a 28-7 victory over South Florida on Saturday.
