The only game Whiteside missed was the game Embiid missed, IIRC.

No argument from me on Jake. For that matter i wish they had Pat Con also. Or at least one of the two?

He still was not healthy the whole time. I think it showed. Seems to be moving better now.

The other team I can think of is 2-12 coming off an NBA finals appearance. Don't worry, they have fans questioning Kerr's abilities to lead a team as well.

I didn’t say that we would be. We didn’t really have a backup PG so losing Dane would hurt us more than a team with some depth at PG.

You mean the team missing their top 2 players?

We're not missing Dame and CJ...

Were only missing one starter. Nurkic is hurt but we knew that and planned for that by getting a starting C to play in his place. But that doesnt fit the narrative...

Kings are missing Fox and Bagley.
Warriors are missing Steph, Klay, and Russell.
    Bucks are missing Middleton.
Pacers are missing Oladipo. Brogdon and Lamb are missing games and are DTD.
Nets are missing Durant, Levert, Chandler. Kyrie is DTD.
Raptors are missing Lowry and Ibaka and just got Anunoby back.
    Celtics are missing Hayward.
Pelicans are missing Zion and Lonzo, and have a number of others banged up.
Hawks are missing Collins and Huerter.
Pistons were missing Blake and are currently missing Jackson
    Suns are missing Ayton
Clippers have been missing Kawhi and PG for stretches and are missing Shamet

Collins is equally important to the Blazers’ success as Dame and CJ, just like Green is equally important to the Warriors as Curry and Thompson. The front line was going to be thin even with Collins. Without him, Tolliver and Hezonja have been worthless and have allowed opponents to throw everything but the kitchen sink at stopping Dame. Little has brought energy, but he’s too inexperienced to be a starter, particularly at the PF spot. In retrospect, Olshey really screwed the pooch in letting Aminu walk.

Collins is equally as important to our success as Dame?!

I'm one of the biggest Collins fans on here but cmon man... Now he's as important as Dame just so we have a huge excuse?

Im assuming Dame needs to get hurt to become more important than Collins again...

Basketball is still a team game last I checked. Unless a team has solid big men up front, the guards are going to be limited in what they can do to make the team successful. Collins certainly isn’t the scorer that Dame is, but his defense and rebounding are critical, and his threat as a scorer keeps defenses from playing off of him to double Dame. So yeah, in terms of overall success, he’s as critical as Dame. Perhaps he’s even more so because of the lack of depth at his position. If Dame goes down, CJ and Ant are still a credible starting backcourt and there’s still some depth behind them. There’s squat at PF.

Damn, I hope Melo can play better than I expect.

    I do to.
But i'm also a bit amazed that we are hoping Melo can save a season.

I think he adds a bit, but IMO the Blazers are going to need Gasol back too if they want to get back in the hunt for a playoff spot. Even then, they're pretty much a bandaid until Nurk gets back.
