I understand your point, I just don't agree they are equivalent. Sure Walton and Luke were studs, but 1977 was a team effort and I think that is why the main players had their numbers retired. Toronto was about all about Kawhi.

He's not my boy but Skal is butterfingered and keeps rolling the ball on the floor in traffic...I don't know what's his issue with corralling a rebound or a pass and not getting stripped....Tolliver plays better help defense than Skal so far....I like Skal but I noticed you stopped calling his number when Nas took a roster spot....Skal is a project with talent, but he's not a starter..I want Skal to start bring the ball up chest high and protecting it instead of dangling it between his feet. I cheer for everybody wearig the pinstripe...I cheer for Trent who I think is a better defender than Dame or CJ in short sample sizes. I just want chemistry and to rebound and stop turning the ball over in the paint

I think jersey retirements are intended for the elite of the elite. Simply being a piece on a championship team shouldn't qualify a player to get enshrined like that. In my estimation, the only Blazers who should be retired are:

    32 - Walton
    20 - Lucas
    22 - Drexler

    77 - Ramsay

0 - Dame (ROY, 4x all nba, 4x all star, and counting)

I'm still sour on Aldridge, but he's also up there.

What does Nas have to do with Skal? Skal hasn’t played a minute of power forward this season. Nas ain’t a power forward either, he just plays there out of necessity. For a guy that evidently likes Skal, you seem pretty fixated on telling me how much he sucks.

How much worse do you want us to get defensively?

I think Melo is looking great...at 6'8 he's 240 so he's not skinny, he's just lost his body fat from last year.

Nas is starting.....you wanted Skal to start when Zach went down...I didn't tell you Skal sucks....I told you he has trouble protecting the ball and rebounding....he's young, he's a project but he's not a needle mover..perspective...the person fixated on a player sucking would be the guy who thinks Tolliver is my hero....Tolliver is a role player who can defend without stupid fouls......and a guy in a serious shooting slump.....I like all our players...I just don't think Skal is what you projected him to be. I didn't project Tolliver to be a needle mover...I also think Tolliver is a better shooter than we've seen but we're not in a position to let him get up enough shots to break the slump like we have with CJ or Dame slumping

Jfc guy is still going on about Tolliver, the man is washed, thank god Stotts finally realized it. Wonder how long it’ll take you. Skal is young and in the rotation. Dont think I projected him as much more, if I did it was probably playing into the bit that you seem to take seriously. Still doesn’t answer why you keep bringing him up though, even to the point of derailing a thread that has nothing to do with him. Who in your family did he sleep with?

I don't really disagree with that. Just pointing out why they likely retired those they did. I might be tempted to add Porter, but he is definitely the next level down.

My timeline might be off, but did his jersey retirement come AFTER we had Dirty 30 on the squad?

Sheed has nearly as many accomplishments as TP, btw.

So you’re just going to ignore that Skal hasn’t played a minute of power forward? Kayyyyy.

Not at all...are you going to ignore that he's not starting? I was pointing out why he wouldn't play Zach's role ...at any rate....Melo will play PF ….beginning the season we could trot out two 7 fters….now we can't until Nurk and Pau are back....my take on Skal was about basketball not position...a PF or Center should rebound and protect the ball better in my view. Skal is not taking wide open jumpers ….he's hesitating with the ball and it's not pretty last few games....Melo will shoot the thing....Tolliver will pass it. Hopefully Skal will improve that part of his game this season.

Skal is averaging over 11 rebounds per/36, a career high (as is his turnover rate,) so he should be commended for his improvement.
