Dicker FG sends Texas over No. 20 Kansas State 27-24

Texas needed a win to keep any lingering Big 12 title hopes alive.

The Longhorns got it behind the same fourth-quarter formula they used a few weeks ago: Give up a late lead before quarterback Sam Ehlinger engineers a long drive to set up a Cameron Dicker field goal as time expires.

Dicker's 26-yarder lifted the Longhorns to a 27-24 victory over No. 20 Kansas State on Saturday. The victory keeps Texas in the hunt for a return trip to the Big 12 championship game with three games left.

No. 8 Oklahoma holds on, beats TCU 28-24

It wasn't pretty, but Jalen Hurts did what he usually does late in the season -- win.

The senior passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more, and No. 8 Oklahoma held off TCU 28-24 on Saturday night to clinch a spot in the Big 12 championship game.

Baylor in Big 12 title game for first time with win over Texas

What a different feeling for Baylor a week later, and how about the progress the Bears have made in two years.

A week after a disappointing home loss to Oklahoma ended their bid for an undefeated season, and two years after an 11-loss season, Charlie Brewer and the Bears won their home finale 24-10 over Texas on Saturday to clinch a spot in their first Big 12 championship game.

Iowa State rallies to top Kansas 41-31

With a chance to finish off the surprisingly tough Jayhawks, Iowa State coach Matt Campbell put the game in sophomore quarterback Brock Purdy's hands.

Purdy made Campbell look like a genius, closing the door on Kansas with a fourth-down touchdown pass with 1:09 left.

Purdy threw for 372 yards and four TDs -- including the game-clinching one on fourth-and-goal from the 4 -- and Iowa State rallied to beat Kansas 41-31 on Saturday and clinch its third straight winning season.

Brown, Hubbard lead No. 22 Oklahoma State over WVU 20-13

Here’s something else to add to the conversation for Chuba Hubbard’s Heisman Trophy chances: The nation’s rushing leader is a solid receiver, too.

Hubbard set career highs with seven catches for 88 yards Saturday in No. 22 Oklahoma State’s 20-13 win over West Virginia.

K-State holds off Iowa State 27-17 in ‘Farmageddon'

Chris Klieman gathered his players in the locker room after a heart-stopping win at Texas Tech and challenged not his seniors, who soon would be playing their final game for Kansas State, but the rest of the guys who would be around for years to come.

The first-year coach wanted his youngsters to lay it on the line for the veterans.

"Without question," he said, "they played an excellent football game."

Jacardia Wright ran for a touchdown, fellow freshman Joshua Youngblood returned a kickoff 93 yards for another score, and the Wildcats' aggressive defense shut down Brock Purdy and high-flying Iowa State to win a 27-17 defensive slugfest on a cold, windy Saturday night.

No. 6 Oklahoma beats No. 8 Baylor 30-23 in OT for B12 title

No. 6 Oklahoma has done all it can, winning a fifth Big 12 title in a row with another close win over No. 8 Baylor.

Now the Sooners wait to see if they are going to get in back in the College Football Playoff. That is up to the selection committee, though it will be virtually impossible to keep Oklahoma from being one of those four teams.

"I hope they see the Big 12 champions. They've got a job to do, I get that," coach Lincoln Riley said after Oklahoma's 30-23 overtime win Saturday.

13 Texas Longhorns football players tested or presumed positive for coronavirus

The Texas athletic department announced Thursday that 13 new football players have tested positive or are presumed positive for COVID-19, while 10 more are asymptomatic and in self-quarantine.

This is on top of the two positive cases that Texas reported last week, bring the number to 15 total Longhorns that have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

In a statement from team physician Allen Hardin, Texas announced that the 13 who tested positive are now self-isolating. The other 10 were identified through contract tracing. Also, UT also said four more players have tested positive for the COVID-19 antibody.

Decision to rename Texas Longhorns' field a step in the right direction

When Ricky Williams patched into a joint Zoom interview with Earl Campbell on Monday afternoon, they spoke to each other for the first time since the University of Texas, their beloved alma mater, had bestowed upon them the most meaningful of their uncountable football honors.

"Hey, Ricky! Congratulations, brother," Campbell said.

No. 11 Oklahoma State survives against Tulsa, 16-7

True freshman quarterback Shane Illingworth made Oklahoma State's usually high-powered offense look normal for just long enough to help the 11th-ranked Cowboys avoid a huge upset.

Oklahoma State stayed in it with defense, and Illingworth rallied the Cowboys to a 16-7 victory over Tulsa on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

K-State upsets No. 3 Oklahoma in thrilling comeback

A Kansas State squad that lost its opener to Arkansas State two weeks ago, had its roster depleted by COVID-19, and entered Saturday's game against No. 3 Oklahoma as a four-touchdown underdog overcame it all to pull off one of the biggest stunners of the season.

Skylar Thompson passed for 334 yards and ran for three touchdowns, and the Wildcats rallied from 21 points down to beat the third-ranked Sooners 38-35, a 50-yard field goal by Blake Lynch with 4:32 remaining providing the margin of victory.

No. 8 Texas rallies to beat Texas Tech 63-56 in overtime

Texas was trailing Texas Tech by 15 points with just more than 3 minutes to play when Sam Ehlinger walked over to his coach and delivered a message.

The No. 8 Longhorns weren't out of it, the senior quarterback said. Far from it. Texas would leave the field a winner.

"(He) looked at me and said, 'They left us too much time. We're going to tie this thing up and win in overtime," Herman said. "And I believed him."

So did the rest of the Longhorns.

Ehlinger delivered on his promise, rallying Texas from a 56-41 deficit in the final 3:13 with touchdown passes to Brennan Eagles and Joshua Moore to force overtime, then finding Moore for another touchdown in a wild 63-56 victory.

Hubbard, No. 15 Oklahoma State, escape with another victory

For Chuba Hubbard and Oklahoma State, it wasn't pretty, but in the end, when it really mattered, he and his team made the plays they needed to.

Hubbard scored on a 23-yard run with 1:17 remaining to salvage a difficult afternoon and help No. 15 Oklahoma State beat West Virginia 27-13 on Saturday.

Max Duggan and TCU stun No. 9 Longhorns again 33-31

Texas ran out of comebacks against Max Duggan and TCU.

The Horned Frogs quarterback ran for the go-ahead score with 4 minutes left and the defense made it stand with a goal-line fumble recovery to beat No. 9 Texas Saturday in a game that had 26 penalties and ended with TCU taking a safety to run out the final seconds of a 33-31 victory.
