    Love the optimism and assessment. With maybe one more trade for a scoring defending front court player, we will be in the thick of it when the playoffs start.

    I'd like to read a cross comparison between our current squad and the 1990 team. Should be a fun read justifying how we're currently better - optimally that is.

    I think the Nurk effect might be a little exaggerated at the moment. Should definitely help, certainly on defense, but have we really seen Dame, CJ, Nurk run efficiently on offense together? It's maybe my spotty memory, but I don't recall them all firing in the same game or for a stretch of games. Seemed Dame got his and one of the others would be non-exist if the other shined. Now throw Melo into the mix.

    Lol and you called other peoples comments dumb?

    Cj Will never be finals MVP. He may prevent us from the finals, though.

    We have not had a stretch of games at home as it's basically been one game at home then on the road, come back for one game at home and then back on the road. Wash, rinse and repeat. We will now have a stretch of games at home and have a solid starting unit. I will be rooting for us to win while the rest of you guys will be whining and complaining. Last year we were 24-10 after the first of the year and then Nurk went down so taking our early struggles and then extrapolating it out to the rest of the games means nothing.

    You are so virtuous. I wish I could be that amazing.

    I didn't say I wouldn't hope the team can win. My point is that I don't think having more home games in a row will magically solve our horrendous team defense on the arc. If the problem is merely adjustments and timing then maybe. But, I think it is personnel, not more playing time.

    If you don’t think that extended rest and time at home can improve a teams perimeter defense you have not watched much basketball. You’re acting like the most standard phenomenon in basketball is unheard of.

    I have never understood this mentality that according to many of you McCollum is so horrible he hurts our team, but trading him will bring back a high quality player. :hairout:

    We shall see won't we. I'm not denying rest can't help. But, I haven't seen fundamental skills on defense from this team all season. When the guards are hot, we might win. If they aren't we are certain to lose because we can't defend. If you are right and I am wrong, then the Blazers should go 10-3 until Christmas. Let's revisit this then.

    making the playoffs isn't going to be a big challenge. All Portland has to do is beat out Minny or Phoenix while holding off the Kings. It's not easy-peazy, but none of those 3 teams appear to really be better than Portland and none have the experience

    getting into the top-6 is going to be a much bigger challenge. 5 of the 6 have the talent and recent resume to suggest they won't be fading off their current pace. Only Dallas may have some questions about their staying power. Sure, injuries can throw any equation off balance, but that's always true

    but obviously, this thread is about the claim that Portland is going to the finals, not just making the playoffs, two very different goal-posts

    18 = 82 + 12.....new math

    wut?

    haven't you noticed that everyone here is all talk? That includes you. That's kind of the purpose of a message forum....you know, all talk. What's he supposed to do...sink a three against the Lakers or punch Kenny Smith?
