And about twisting the words, there is some difference between "they just see" and "they probably realized that";)

C'mon man, at least include the portion literally the sentence before that statement in his interview to be fair to him. He already addressed the fans just seconds before that follow-up question/statement and praised us a lot:

"I thought the fans was incredible tonight. The support that they showed for myself, and it's always for the team in general, but to just be a part of this atmosphere [..] to feel that support and communication from the fans, like that goes a long way I can tell you that." - Carmelo

Listen man, I'm sorry if I came across harsh, nothing personal meant. But your original post I felt was going to mislead others into misjudging his character (I already saw one other person do so earlier in the thread based on your first post), and that simply would not be cool, so I felt it's appropriate to address it with his actual statement. Not to mention, he praised the fans unprompted, the interviewer never even asked him to talk about the fans. His praise of the fans is what lead to the follow-up question about the chant (plus the question was asking if he "surprised" by the chant, so he answered that specifically).

Ok, I hope that Melo wouldn't take it as seriously as you. Instead I should say that I really support him and since he is a Blazers he is my brother. He is.
I think he really needs to show he is geniue and that's great.
I still remember "not gonna play from bench" Melo tho, as is wasn't that long ago.
What I love in his big ego is it give us rebounds with "I got it, fuck out of here" and I'm sure he and Dame will bring fear to the league as Melo has his chip on shoulder and Dame always plays with it.
    Peace;)

Yeah for sure. Sorry if I seemed too serious bro. It's just I saw others in this thread start to judge his entire character based on your initial post (like "BBert" on the previous page), and I figured his full statement where he does praise the fans should be included too to be fair to him, before those crazy narratives start to spread lol

It's cool man, appreciate it. I was being too serious too (aka I was being a jerk lol), so I apologize for that too.

Same here. He's fun. The Stotts "system" needs heroball, and Melo is a heroball.

In the 20 years of time I've wasted on the internet, this might be the first time I've read this sentence. Bravo.

Melo in the last two games is a damned sight better than anything we've trotted out there besides Collins, so I'm happy to see progress. I'm not 100% confident that this is the Melo we get for the remainder of the season, but jesus I'd happily eat crow if it is.

If he keeps this up, Portland is a 5 or 6 seed in the playoffs, and depending on how Nurk and Collins look and who we play, we could actually be favored in the first round.

I have actually been advocating for Melo for the past couple years because we have lacked a guy that you can iso in the post and can get buckets when you need one. This should help spread the floor tremendously for Dame, CJ, and Hood.

Melo is the best player on the team. He may even exceed Brandon Roy, but I'll have to see it to believe it.

I don't know how that could be set up.

Melo is a George Karl product. Which means he's stubborn but full of moves. He may ignore Stotts a lot. But when the Sonics got rid of Kemp, Karl said with fatigue that Kemp was the most talented player he would ever coach. Karl fought with most of his stars.

Terry Stotts is also a George Karl product

I read GK’s book and he expressed great frustration with Melo and He wasn’t a huge Melo fan after a while.
My feeling is that’s when he was young and ego inflated, now he’s been humbled big time and is older. The year off probably helped him change his mind set and realized he can extend his career by being more of a team guy.

The game has changed a whole lot since Iverson and Melo played for the Nuggets...the games aren't called the same way at all and until the Pistons won a chip with Sheed and Chauncey...every team thought they needed that Michael Jordan superstar to win...surround him with role players. Team over diva....as a guitarist when I was in my 20s I thought I had to play every note I could in a song like it was a race to the end.....now I've stripped away all that unnecessary noodling....35 is a good age to start a new chapter or approach and I think Melo has just grown up after being a ultra wealthy young arrogant guy to a guy who has learned the game from a more adult perspective

    River, still play much?
I still have my Washburn acoustic I’ve had for 47 years. The tone gets better and better with age! I’m Thinking Melo may too.

Everyday....it's my therapy...music is something that is constantly challenging...when Andres Segovia died he said he was just starting to figure the guitar out and said the problem with most of his students is that they valued speed over selection. Fast playing to him was not musical at all...as maris61 had in his sig......melody is king
