Fisher Sand and Gravel has just been awarded a $400 million contract from the Pentagon (taxpayer money) to build a section of THE WALL. The owner, and his wife, are both major Republican donors. The CEO had lobbied on Fox News to get a WALL contract. The Army Corps of Engineers repeatedly rejected their bid, as their work did not meet standards.

Aside from shoddy work, the CEO, Tommy Fisher, and his brother Michael have both been credibly accused of using company funds for personal expenses. Michael Fisher has been convicted of tax fraud and another brother, David of federal child pornography charges. The company has been cited not only for shoddy work but for violating environmental laws, and for sexual harassment and retaliation, in other words, a Trump dream company.

Despite the Army Corps of Engineers saying their work did not meet standards, Trump insisted they get the contract.

The section of wall is to be built across a wildlife refuge. If the work is shoddy enough, it won't deter migrants, but it will damage habitat, reduce genetic diversity, and impair the animals' ability to feed and mate.

So, he can tell his fans THE WALL is being built, and they will conveniently ignore the fact he absolutely guaranteed Mexico would 100% pay for it. He can reward loyal subjects, on taxpayer dime. He can hurt the environment. He can favor a company that flouts laws it doesn't like, just as he does. And he will "piss off libruls".

    Drain the swamp!

USACE solicited 5 bids, only received 3. Fisher was selected by USACE as the best bid after considering all pertinent criteria, cost, quality, timeliness, and likelihood of ability to meet specifications of the contract. No inadequate bids are ever accepted by USACE.

You dishonestly refer to past bids of different projects to cast aspersions on what was a successful bid fully approved by USACE.

You state Trump insisted they get the contract. He did not, and simply could not. That's not possible with any government bid. That's not how it works. I worked at the Corps for 11 years and they are the largest Engineering organization in the world and certainly the most professional.

They don't rubber stamp anything for anyone.

The wall is not on a wildlife refuge either, it is outside the refuge, bordering the south perimeter. The main effect it will have on the refuge is that it will greatly reduce the massive trash problem, poaching and range fires from illegals.

It'll just be cut through with saws, climbed over or gone around. A waste of money and time. Trump trying to get as much built as he can before the election. Probably, only a few sections will be done if at all and he will claim its done and looks perfect.

Why solicit any bids if Mexico is paying?

The Corps of Engineers is great. I turned down a job offer from them as an engineer because I took a job at Tektronix as an engineer. Better pay, better benefits, better work. Love working with electronics. A couple of guys that I graduated with went to work there. I presume they retired from there. They were mor into power than I was.
My nephew-in-law was a VP for the largest private engineering company in the world, begun by some graduates from my university, CH2MHill. They are also an excellent company that is extremely professional.

They are paying us back by generously letting us move our car manufacturing plants there.
