I've reached the angry phase already, very angry! This should not have happened. He never should have been cleared to play. This wasn't the playoffs; the obvious choice is to play it safe!
Rodney made it clear he was ok to play....there's no scapegoat here....it's just a terrible injury for any player it happens to. Same when Wes had it happen. These guys are paid well to play. I've been injured badly playing sports and felt good enough to play tennis that day ...tore my meniscus...took two years to get back to normal. At least Rodney has a medical team in place to cover his costs...mine was out of pocket
Sure...and they didn't predict this would happen either....doctors can't predict the future and we're short handed....everybody on the roster probably has a ache somewhere. The blame game won't change what happened and we've been pretty lucky for several seasons dodging injuries....shit happens. Hassan has been playing on a sore ankle....should we keep him on the bench now as well? Next man up.
I'm with @UKRAINEFAN. This is different than Wesley because all signs pointed to Wesley's injury being a fluke; meanwhile, it had been established that Rodney was experiencing pain. The MRI should've been done BEFORE he played last night, or extreme caution should have been taken BECAUSE these guys are paid well and therefore valuable to the franchise/fanbase/city/league, and because they are fucking humans whose livelihood depends on the health of their body. This isn't a fluke. He was feeling pain! And if he was cleared, then obviously that was a mistake. It doesn't mean that he wouldn't have injured it regardless, it means that more could, and should, have been done beforehand. In summary: Rodney felt pain in his Achilles; they cleared him to play; and he ruptured or whateverthefuck said Achilles. There is a correlation between the pain and the injury. It's the middle part--the cleared part--is what is wrong with the picture. And what-the-fuck is how I feel about it.
Dude, these are different things. Even an idiot like me knows not to mess with the Achilles. There are some things that require greater caution, which is is obviously in this case. I heard the interview with Stotts saying that Rodney had a sore Achilles. Then (I was at a birthday and couldn't watch but was looking at the score on my phone) my brother says, "Rodney got injured." And what do you think I said? I'll tell you: "His Achilles?!?" Yeah. Not because I'm smart (we've established I'm an idiot) but because it was fucking foreshadowed! Anyhow, I agree with you in general about injuries and stuff. Just not this one. I'd call this gross negligence.
What if he played the whole game and injured in the next game? Would that have been negligent. He showed no signs of having an issue during the game.
As soon as I saw Rodney’s injury. I turned off the TV, called an Uber and went to a bar and drink the whole night. I give up, this season sucks. 3 of 5 of our starters are out. Hopefully CJ and Dame can stay healthy. I don’t know a player that came back strong after an Achilles injury. Get well soon RODNEY!
Which makes me wonder how Uncle Festus is doing with his new/old parts. I haven't seen any news at all about it.
Yep. There are recommended treatments physicians would give their patients in regard to a sore achilles tendon. It's not rocket science. Physicians most often prescribe rest and/or stretching and strengthening exercises.
What if?!? Why talk in hypotheticals when we will never know? And why won't we ever know? Negligence. And see, we noticed different things last night. You saw no sign of him having issues during the game, and I saw him hobble off with a torn Achilles.
But you didn't see him hobbling around on the court before the injury. None of us are doctors and none of us have seen the xrays, mri or any other tests that were done or what Hod was saying to the trainers or the doctors.
and what makes you think the doctors didn't do everything in evaluating it as they obviously cleared him to play? It is also feedback from the patient that helps them evaluate any kind of injury and to what extent it might be. It comes down to the same ole story, shit happens.
To further your comparison to the 2014-15 season wasn't CJ injured (hand maybe???) and missed several games that season too?
