Id say top 40 protected still. Iggy is pretty old. But I could be swayed.

They have a lot of money tied to Love and Nance, I think they wouldn’t mind letting him go and rolling with Zizic, and drafting a center like Wiseman.

I think their focus is on trading Love right now. He is the one that doesn't fit and has some value. Trade Love and renew Tristan with a way lower contract (he won't find much in FA) is what i would do if i was their GM.

I don't think any team wants garbage from a 5-12 team, only promising young talent or picks. Why on earth would anyone want Baze or Hassan? Only players desirable are Dame CJ Ant Hood and probably Little: the exact pieces Portland will never part with, for better or worse. With this playing style I am not sure any realistic roster options could get much done. This style of ISO offense and zero defense has got to go. Surely, surely Stotts is capable of that. Nurk should just not get on the court until he is at 110%.

At the trade deadline Baze and Hassan will be valuable for their big expiring contracts. I expect Neil to leverage their value and possibly the value of a draft pick to get an impact player at the deadline.

@hoopsjock I should have probably put my Andre Iguodala thread here but at the time didn't see this thread...you know I'm not a big trade machine guy but reading about Iggy and Memphis refusing to give him to the Lakers for nothing, I think we could get him

You could definitely be right, but I think the only other option is going nuclear and doing the we’ll try to be good again in 3-4 years if things go right. Which is a viable strategy.

I obviously hope I'm right with this but the Blazers might be one of the few teams willing to give up picks to take an expensive contract with multiple years left.

and you might be right. Jody Allen may be willing to spend a lot of money and pay a lot of tax. Trading Whiteside for Love would just about guarantee the Blazers are a taxpayer again next season, and to field a competitive team they might be a long ways over the line

I forget when the trade deadline is....iirc it might be around the 10th of Feb. So then, by mid January there might be a lot more hints about who is truly available and what teams might be willing to move on from a player that might fit well in Portland. And the rate the Blazers have been losing games, the more attractive their 1st becomes

I wonder if Pau would convince his brother to end his career with him in a Blazer uniform....that would rock having him back up Nurk and moving Skal and Zach to the PF position....Hassan to Toronto for Baby Gasol? How cool would it be for Marc to have Pau as his big man coach?

Gasol is integral to the Raptors and an extremely savvy player. His impact is much greater than his stats. They wouldn't have any interest in that exchange IMO

At this point I am not looking to “fix” this team, just make it through the season.

No big contracts, just some talent or draft picks.

I admit I have never been great at trade equality as a Blazers fan, but here is what I would like to see.

    Whiteside
    Bazemore
    Little

    for

    Love
    Thompson

Add draft picks in either direction if needed. Blast away.

    Go crazy trade:

    Whiteside
    Bazemore
    Collins

    For

    Adams
    Gallinari
    Noel

Okie gets the young player they desire in Collins and we get stronger up front and bigger. We need some toughness which Adams gives. Lakers shoved us around like we were their little brother. Portland needs a toughness identity. It is all fantasy since NO isn't a team builder. He puts odd pieces together and calls it a day. Not a fan obviously.
