Question: Had the Ducks not lost to ASU, do you think they would've jumped Oklahoma and get into the BCS?
FYI--BCS is gone; it's CFP now. And had they beaten ASU, they would never have been behind Oklahoma in the first place. Their spot in the playoff would have been certain. Better question is whether the Ducks would have nabbed the 4 spot if they'd gone for an easy week-1 win vs a little-sisters-of-the-poor team rather than picking up a loss because they chased a tough "schedule-strengthening" game against Auburn.
True, good question. I actually attended that Auburn game and was a game they absolutely gave away due to poor 2nd half coaching and game management..
Didn't attend, but I was listening while driving Uber that evening. Duck fans I was driving around after the game were so angry, and I understood completely.
The narrative going into the ASU game was that Oregon was in the driver's seat when it came to their own CFP Destiny. Win out, and they would have been in. The Auburn win over Alabama pretty much cemented that.
I can of do as they spanked Utah pretty good and all the talk even by the CFPC was how good and consistent Utah had been all year.
Ducks play Ohio State the next two seasons. Let's see how that strategy plays itself out. Anyhoo, here's a piece on the subject.... https://www.espn.com/college-footba...s-change-scheduling-approach-search-cfp-berth
Nah, I’m just gonna nut like a bottle of champagne all over some poor girls chi chis later that night.
Well, the fact still remains...had the Ducks not scheduled Auburn, they may very well be in the championship playoffs right now.
