That was a real good post from which I stripped this one point. The founders did not strip rights from slaves!

Slavery up to that point had been normal practice of men. Judge it as you may, but it was a part of the world at the time the founders created this country. I choose to point out they did a marvelous job of it too. Can you imagine how difficult is was to go against the most powerful nation of the day? But then, they did just that, with the declaration of Independence. Then to follow that up with a Constitutions that was created to enforce the high principles put forth in the declaration of independence is simply most admirable. Then when you then consider, they made it correctable by the people which enabled the ending of Slavery in this nation by an amendment should be greatly appreciated.

Those men created a nation, America. The only one of it's kind at the time. Damn man! That is American!

That it was not perfect on the first go, is a great disservice to the true marvelous feat. Can you imagine the current Pubs and Dems ever getting close to such greatness? I can not, I expect it was a one time deal, from which we benefit now for over 200 years.

Slavery can not mar this feat, it had long been with man and all nations. Jesus, Mohammad had come to men and created the great religions and the basis for morality, but they did not eliminate Slavery.
I will not diminish the achievements of Jefferson, Madison, Adams and all the founders for not doing so either. They did give us the way to create the law that did so, the thirteenth amendment. That sir, is greatness when you give it full thought.

'Honey, we shrunk the impeachment': Kimberley Strassel reacts to revised Democratic articles
By Charles Creitz | Fox News

Wall Street Journal Editorial Board member and Fox News contributor Kimberley Strassel said Thursday Democrats were continuing to shrink the parameters of their formal impeachment case against President Trump.

Strassel told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that Democrats initially claimed that Trump committed extortion, then bribery, then a 'quid pro quo' -- but finally settled on obstruction of Congress and abuse of power.

"It was funny, we saw those articles of impeachment -- we at the Editorial Board called it 'Honey, we shrunk the impeachment'," she remarked referencing the 1990s "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" films starring Rick Moranis.

"Adam Schiff spent six weeks lecturing the country on the proper definition of 'bribery', which was something removed from all statutes or the history of the country, but it was the way [Democrats] had to define [impeachment] in order to pack it into what they say Donald Trump did," Strassel said.

"Suddenly it disappears and this is because someone in the Democratic Party realized if you expand the definition the way they did and say any time any politician asks for something from another country in a way that might benefit them in some way, that their own party would be implicated."

She added that there should be no concern that impeachment will work to the Democrats' advantage as a talking point going into the 2020 election.

Instead, she said the fact Trump would likely be impeached could also work in the Republicans' favor in that they could ask the public whether they want the party that just impeached the president to continue to wield power in Congress.

Earlier on "Tucker Carlson Tonight," House Judiciary Committee member Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, also commented on the impeachment investigation, claiming it was the Democrats who have acted inappropriately during the impeachment process.

"They've abused power," he said. "Like [George Washington University law professor Jonathan] Turley said, it is Congress that's abusing power, and how ironic that ... Joe Biden would say if he were subpoenaed to the Congress or the Senate, he would defy it, he wouldn't do it."

"That is what this mob is trying to kick out Trump from the White House [for]," he remarked.

Graham says he won't call any impeachment witnesses in Senate committee: 'It's a crock'
By Julia Musto | Fox News

Sen. Lindsey Graham says an impeachment trial in the Senate will have no witnesses in an effort to end the 'sham' investigation and danger to the presidency as soon as possible.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Thursday that he wants the Democratic-led impeachment "sham" process to end quickly.

Appearing on "America's Newsroom" with hosts Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith, Graham said he'd like to end the impeachment process "as soon as possible."

"I don't want to give it any legitimacy because it's a crock," he said, noting that "every impeachment except this one has been conducted by outside counsel."

NADLER SAYS 'WE CANNOT RELY ON AN ELECTION' TO OUST TRUMP

Earlier this week, House Democrats announced two articles of impeachment against President Trump, alleging abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

On Thursday, the Judiciary Committee began day two of its impeachment markup and, after members debate and vote on proposed amendments to the articles, is expected to send them to the House floor for a debate and vote next week.

To convict the president and remove him from office two-thirds of the Senate's vote is required.

"This is being driven by Democratic partisans, it's being rushed, there's no due process ... Abuse of power, if you're looking for it, my Democratic House colleagues, look in the mirror," Graham stated.

"I hope that we'll look at the record they use to impeach the president. If they get 218 votes, that will be the trial record. Let the House manager present their case. Let the president's lawyer comment on the House case. Then vote," he told Hemmer.

"My goal is to end this as soon as possible for the good of the country because I think it's a danger to the presidency to legitimize this," Graham stated.

"Does that mean no witnesses at all?" Hemmer asked.

"I don't need any witnesses at all. I am ready to go," Graham replied, adding that the issue of Hunter Biden's work in Ukraine can be addressed outside of impeachment hearings.

"In terms of time, is it a week, is it two weeks, is it a month, what is it?" Hemmer shot back.

"It's closer to a week, for sure," the South Carolina senator said.

"The trial records should be the documents that they use for impeachment in the House: no more, no less. I'm not interested in any witnesses. This thing is a sham," he concluded. "I want to get it over with."

Laura Ingraham: Nancy Pelosi seems to be rejecting impeachment 'like a bad organ transplant'
By Victor Garcia | Fox News

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appears to be shrinking under the pressure of impeaching Trump.

The House Democrats' continued impeachment push appears to have taken a toll on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- both politically and physically, Fox News' Laura Ingraham argued Thursday night.

"Here's the problem," Ingraham said in her monologue on "The Ingraham Angle." "By getting sucked into impeachment ... against her better judgment, Nancy Pelosi [has] walked away from common sense.

"Now at times, in the last few weeks, even the last month, she [has] looked like her body was actually rejecting impeachment like a bad organ transplant."

Republicans made known their unbridled fury and frustration late Thursday as House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., abruptly wrapped up an all-day marathon hearing on the adoption of two articles of impeachment against President Trump by delaying planned votes on the matter until Friday morning.

Ingraham recalled the media's fawning over Pelosi a year ago, saying, "They poured on the praise, heaped on the praise, including on her handling of the government shutdown."

But now, it seems, the tables have turned on Pelosi -- to the advantage of President Trump.

"Pelosi's future is suddenly not looking so bright. Polls show the lowest support ever for impeaching this president -- and the swing-state outlook polls are horrendous for the Democrats on that same issue," Ingraham said.

In contrast, "The economy is soaring. The market was up 220 points at the closing bell today. Trump's looking also very confident."

"Meanwhile, Nancy's party up on Capitol Hill right now, they're floundering. They're desperately trying to make people care about impeachment, even though she doesn't care enough to whip the votes for it," Ingraham added.

I think the Democrats have committed political suicide. This impeachment is a sham, he won’t be removed, and he will very likely win 2020 now.

Also, if/when he retains the presidency it will just be four more years of sore losers trying to undo yet another election by having more bogus investigations and impeachment hearings. Because Democrats don’t give a fuck about fixing the countries problems, they just want the bad man gone so they can get their power/balls back. Hell, I’d even go as far to say a lot of RINOs are in that boat too.

I'm sure the Dems realize what a gamble this is and they also know that Trump will not likely be removed and have known that all along.

Claiming the Dems "don't care about fixing the country's problems" is a very broad generalization and nothing more than a regurgitation of what's been said by others and simply saying it does not make it true. Trump is a VERY big problem for this country because he only cares about himself and the Trump brand.

Am I a "Dem"?...no. But I do admire their courage for standing up for what they think is right and in this instance, I agree with them.

This came from a TV commercial denigrating litter and pollution. The American Indian is weeping at the sight of a lot of littering of our beautiful environment.

No the President won't be removed, that's true. But shouldn't one do what one feels is right regardless of whether it's successful or not?

I am confused by the thought process that the impeachment process somehow increases the likelihood of Trump's re-election. Do we actually believe that there are people who wouldn't have voted for him next November who now will because congress tried and failed to remove him from office?

I believe so, from the reports of swing state voters disapproval to my own anecdotal break room eavesdropping (Hispanic women, I was shocked lol) People are talking about it, and a lot of them see this for what it is. A complete sham that feels entirely planned since before the infamous date of January 20th, 2017.

That, plus the fact that there's quite a few people who voted for him in 2016 who not vote for him in 2020.

I've "talked" to a lot of people too but my little corner of the world is a micro sized sample sample size and neither yours or my converstations with people is a viable barometer of the whole country's opinions.

McConnell has already said that they will guarantee that Trump will not be removed from office. The GOP has yet to officially meet for the trial portion but they've already made up their mind before calling any witnesses or presenting/reviewing evidence...that sounds also very "planned" which also makes it a "sham".

I think that's the thing that frustrates me more than anything when it comes to American politics--that the parties have so much more power than the individual politicians or the people. There's no search for truth, just the pursuit of power. Democrats don't care if there's actually a cause to impeach. Republicans don't care if there's evidence to convict. The results of this whole thing were decided long, long before it began.
