Lillard started out the season playing the best basketball of his career. (Not his fault the team around him sucks. ) He put the team on his back and ended up with spasms. It slowed him down for a few games. Then carmelo came. Now it's Dame, CJ, and Melo all sharing the scoring. No surprise his numbers came down some. He does seem to be struggling as he, Melo, and CJ figure out how to best play together.

You are far too much of a noob here to to make such asinine blanket statements. Which means all you’re doing is pissing into the wind. I personally have never advocated trading anyone but CJ. And I have never advocated for firing Stotts. Dame is currently carrying the team on his back. And the load gets heavier with every injury. Seems like you’re the one denying reality. Or you just like picking pointless fights you can’t win. Mom and Dad obviously didn’t give you enough attention. How about jumping on the Lakers bandwagon if you’re so eager for “your” team to win a ring. That would be the easy thing to do. The rest of us will remain loyal to the Blazers brand, thank you very much.

Reality can be hard to accept, but even i (and i consider myself as Lillards biggest fan), had to admit that he can be really dissapointing. Yeah yeah he get's doubled teamed many times, it get's old. Why isnt he able to find other ways than just simple Pnr? Maybe his style of play is the problem why the offense is so predictable? We all shit on CJ when he plays bad, but Dame gets a pass every time, his passiveness and lazy effort is hard to watch. I know Cj can be hard to watch when his shot is not falling, but at least he tries something, while Lillard just stands around hiding against good defenders, we've seen it hundred times in the Playoffs. I never forget how Cj ran back in game 7 to block Murrays shot, that was passion and pure will to win that game, you have to ask yourself, would Dame have done the same?

so what? Every single player in the NBA cares when they lose. That’s not sufficient for anything.

We’re paying him $200 million dollars and he’s not playing as hard as some guys making $2 million. He needs to get back to the basics and lead the team with energy, speed, and effort on defense.

what is promising is that he’s still having an excellent season individually even though his energy is low. But denying his energy is low (relative to other players) is just closing your eyes. He’s standing around on more than half of plays.

    Lillard's fine.
Although, my girlfriend says he hasn't been the same since his son was born.
    If she's right.
    Blame the kid.
Personally, I believe somethings "missing" about him this year.
I think it's that big Bosnian dude.

The title is meant to be hyperbolic. I obviously don’t think Lillard is a bum. He’s an elite player and we’re lucky to have him, but he IS playing at a low energy level this year.

That would be one interpretation, the other would be that he’s playing more like a point guard/team leader who is trying to get teammates going early.

Dame is averaging a career high in assists and is a Top 15 guy in PER. He is not a bum. And since when have you seen Kobe play in a training camp scrimmage?

    * Dame is averaging .7 more points this year on .8 fewer shots

    * he's averaging 7.5 assists this year, the first time he's been over 7 and his turnovers are the same

    * he's increased his average from the FT line by 0.7 points this season

    * He's at career highs in PER, TS%, and FT rate

    * his FG% at the rim has increased from .564 to .639

none of that shows a lack of energy

meanwhile, his assisted FG rate has plummeted from 28.6% last year to 14.3% this year because nobody on the team can help him create his own offense...because fucking Olshey refuses to add any play-makers to the roster that might actually take minutes and possessions from CJ while giving Stotts back court options that aren't CJ or Simons. Dame has to create nearly all his own offense while carrying the burden of running the team and facing constant doubles, traps, and hedges at all screens. No other blazer faces anywhere close to that kind of defensive attention

in the last 3 Blazer losses, Dame has averaged over 39 minutes while the team has lost by an average of 17 points. Stotts has been grinding Dame into the floor because the roster is so broken and dysfunctional, but desperate for wins

so then, if it's true his energy is down a little, there are damn good reasons

This is spot on! I think when people can't come up with something concrete, they play the "no effort", "doesn't care", or "he's clueless" card to defend their stance.

I have mixed thoughts about that, body language IS a form of communication, you literally cant get around that. No one is expected to have a PhD in english to talk with each other.

It is not always concrete just like words on a page can be discerned differently, and using our judgement of someone’s body language may lead us to the wrong conclusion. I disagree a lot with his assessment but at the same time, if he believes dames body language is expressing something, he could definitely not be the only one who thinks that, and maybe only Dame could tell us what he’s thinking or feeling.

Complacency is a concern. I'm surprised folks are getting pissed like the OP criticized their mom or something. Like it or not, Dame is held to a higher standard. It's his team and he embraces it, but along with that goes some bad with the good.

Rap albums, commercials, international fame. Dame has reached a high pinnacle, perhaps higher than any Blazer aside from Drexler, Pippen, Melo. It's human nature complacency would set in. The problem is there's only so much he can do. The Blazers problem is their defense. Dame is a bad defender so it's hard to light a fire under your team's ass when you get destroyed by your man.

I would like to see some more fire from Dame. Particularly on defense. He can always try harder on defense. It does seem like he's going through the motions. I agree he needs a chip on his shoulder.

Dame is the same player he has always been. We aren’t losing BECAUSE of him. That’s ridiculous.
