    there’s nearly 50 games left, the team is still in the playoff hunt, and the only guy they’ve definitely lost for the season is Hood. So, yes.

    I wonder if Boston would be interested in Whiteside and if Gordon Hayward became available?

    It really feels like we eventually trade for Love and Olshey will say look we wouldn't have much space next summer, but now we have an All Star locked for many years.

    At least it will help tanking because Melo will shift to SF. Legendary stuff.

    Let's revitalize this thread. Here's my suggestion...

    It doesn't solve the mess we're in, but it does significantly lower the tax hit this year:
    https://tradenba.com/trades/lRM00P4ju

    Blazers:
    Bazemore ($19.3m) + 2020 2nd + Cash ($3m) -> Harkless ($11.1m) + Walton Jr. ($1.4m)

    This is a cap related move. Blazers send out $19.3m and take back $12.5m, which would save ~$6.8m on salary (~$15m with tax considerations). They only have to give up a early second this year + cash. Walton's contract is non-guaranteed prior to January 10th. If trade occurs and he's cut immediately, Blazers could potentially save another ~$3m.

    Clippers:
    Harkless ($11.1m) + Walton Jr. ($1.4m) + 2021 2nd (via Detroit) -> Morris ($15.0m)

    Clippers make a cheap win-now move. They get the best player in the trade, while only giving up a future 2nd.

    Knicks:
    Morris ($15.0m) -> Bazemore ($19.3m) + 2020 2nd (Portland) + 2021 2nd (via Detroit) + Cash ($3m)

    Rumor has it that Morris wants out. Knicks are likely looking for a 1st, but it's highly doubtful that anyone will pay that price. Instead they get 2 higher 2nd round picks for the next two years. The cash considerations offsets the difference in salaries, so Knicks have no out-of-pocket expense with this trade.

    I guess with Isaac out for two months Orlando is done and will look to get rid of some contracts. Gordon has been terrible this season but only 24 and can help with his athleticism.

    Great. Just what we need. Someone else who has been suffering with achilles pain.

    Also, I don't think the Magic will pull the plug with Isaac being out. They are solidly positioned to fight for the Playoffs.

    I wonder if Sacramento would be more willing to talk Bogdanovic if Portland also took on Dedmon or Ariza. One of those two plus Bogi for Whiteside (or Baze) works financially. They may actually have legit interest in Whiteside, as they could use a starting center, and they would also acquire his bird rights. We plug in Bogi at SF and Dedmon can back up Nurk.

    Then we’d still have the Bazemore contract and Hood DPE to make upgrades.

    I believe we also have two trade exceptions of 1.8 and 1.7 mil

    I highly doubt Neil would just dump Whiteside before seeing Nurk play anyway. So ideally Nurk would return sometime before the deadline, giving the team time to evaluate him. I don’t expect him to be on a minutes restriction for long once he returns.

    Not interested in Gordon. I would prefer Fournier.

    Orlando will probably still make the playoffs without Isaac, no need to panic for them.

    Does it really matter? If there is a chance to get something of value for Whiteside then you take it and fill the hole with a throw-in from the trade or pick someone up with the open roster spot or Hood DPE. It's not like this team is good with Whiteside anyway even though he's been pretty good.

    50 games, yes, but we're not very good at winning games so more games is just going to hurt our record, not help lol.

    Getting back Harkless at starting SF would be a real feel good story and he'd help on defense. Getting a PG like DJ Augustin would be great too as we haven't had a true backup PG since.... I can't remember, Mo Williams?

    Not an exciting trade, maybe been brought up already, but could see something with the Pistons, bringing back Snell and Morris. Bazemore for the 2 is just off $$ wise. Both over 40% from 3 would be a big help in spreading the floor currently.

    that would be the best way to tank without blatantly tanking. Trade Whiteside (or Bazemore...or both) for nearly useless player(s) on smaller expiring contracts plus some 2nd round picks. I don't know if anybody would be interested though. Rather than giving up a pick, teams would probably just choose to ride out the expiring contract. Have to be a team competing for a playoff spot that needs a big man

    I wouldn't be surprised at all if the 'biggest' trade was something like Bazemore + cash for Brandon Knight. Blazers kick in the cash to keep Cleveland whole, maybe push an extra 500K across the table. Meanwhile Portland cuts 3.6M off their payroll which saves 8-9M in tax

    Steve Blake the following year

    it’d be a pretty significant upgrade, I’m dying for a Morris brother on the blazers.

    Have them include Galloway too, and send Trent back their direction.
