I will edit my post and add "Timely". I believe this was a big part of it.

How many teams have won in San Antonio, Dallas, AND Houston?

It's an impressive feat no matter how you slice it.

I agree with @hoopsjock . It was nice to see Stotts actually adopt a new strategy on defense.

So all this time it wasn’t injuries... we still had talent but Stotts used the wrong strategy for 41 games?

I actually saw our defense double team and trap someone last night, which was cool. Rare, but cool.

Love beating D'Antoni's smug a$$ as well.

    Unfortunately Carlisle owns Stotts.

they have both expressed lots of respect for the other many times. Westbrook is just a trash-talker; it bugs fans of other teams but it's pretty harmless, and it gets Westbrook going...that's a crazy little world, that mind of his. I suspect Dame is more of a trash-talker than we suspect....he's a master of timing though; the 'what-time-is-it' gestures are an example. And that wave after his game-winner against OKC is HOF trash-talking. In that case, a gesture was worth a bazillion words.

it's pretty good, but beating the Lakers, when they are a good team, is the best for me. Too bad the Supersonics are the Thunder, beating Seattle was always a rush too

    why wait?....you suck!
    *******************************************

what I saw: Blazers didn't have 2 or 3 efficiency voids among the 5 starters. Everybody played well or better.

    * Bazemore did some Bazemore things but he kept those to a minimum...for the most part. Took a few of his typical wft shots, but he spent very little time out of control, was disruptive on defense, and any time he has a 3-to-1 assist/turnover outing it's a success

    * CJ didn't have a great game but he had a good game and played within the framework of the offense. He had 3 or 4 MeJ moments, but that's way less than normal...and he was a willing passer almost all the time. There were several times last night, especially in the 2nd half, when he got the ball and I expected him to shoot no matter what, like he often does, but he moved the ball well and passed instead. More of that please

    * Whiteside didn't shoot well, but an 18-18-2blk night was essential to the win. No hollow stats...again...whatever the hell that means

    * Dame was Dame last night. I didn't like 3 or 4 of those heat check three's because he had driving lanes all night. I understand that if he'd made any of them they would have seemed like daggers, but his dribble-drive were daggers too, and opened up offense for teammates. I think his 3rd Q won the game for Portland. Houston was desperately trying to mount a comeback but Dame kept saying fuck that, and from there, the rockets ended with a whimper in the 4thQ...well, mostly whimper, Russ was loud as usual but walked off the floor whimpering at the end

    * Melo was great and probably should have had more opportunity. It was a great mixture of quick moves and bully-ball. I really liked that he didn't burn much shot clock with his iso; it was quick decisions and aggressive takes. Maybe that's why he was 7-10 instead of 3-10

    * the bench was ok...not a lot of production but they helped build the lead in the 2nd Q and helped maintain the lead at the bottom of the 3rd and top of the 4th quarters

watching the game it was: how can Portland be 17-24 and how can Houston be 26-13? Both teams played opposite of their records, but that's the NBA most nights. It's a big reason why I'm a fan

That may well make him a lesser player but you cannot fault his effort when plenty of guys around the league just don't have any fight in them. Look Houston has the best backcourt in the league by any measure and their record shows it. They are a top team.

I thought the 'pace' last night really favored the Blazers. More of that, please.

Sorry, let me rephrase that for you: When the Rockets had the opportunity to close it to 3. (Harden missed the 3)

Trent was indeed a stud on defense last night.

He seems to be settling down on offense, and his shooting stroke is nice. I stated my doubts last season that Trent would last in the league, but if he continues to focus on and replicate that kind of defense, he has a very good chance of becoming a very valuable 3 and D player off the bench.

And we've dearly needed one of those.

In fact, I'm starting to envision him taking over for Baze next season. Third year leap, right?

I hate to say this, but looking back at last nights game and Houston missed A LOT of good looks. Last night I thought the defense was better, but I'm not sure it was that much better the second time around. It's a make or miss league.
