Another closed thread i personally disagree with, but whatever. So here is my plead: sell me. Sell me on an idea the dems want to move on that would be better than what we have or are doing, what ideas/ thoughts do the dems have that will provide a better future for our country? no trump is bad crap just positive ideas to improve things. Links, articles, personal thoughts all welcome. This os a genuine reach out to better understand, as i believe if there is a message, its getting buried by all the extremist hate on trump, which im my opinion, will hurt the dems this fall. So, as an independent who leans towards republican ideologies, sell me on why i should vote for the dems this fall? What package is being offered to help us move positively into the next decade? @barfo im calling you out. you aRe very smart and knowledgeable and believe you to be able to rise above the petty and provide some valid ideas or topics.
come on Lanny, i said but whatever? Can you focus on the meat of my post? I only said my first sentence because this post was going to be my next post in that thread, hopefully turning it around, but again, whatever. so whats your thoughts, ideas on how to get more democratic votes from fence riders such as my self? help me help you!
My plan: Clean up the corruption in both the republican and the democrat parties. Both parties followers should spend their energy cleaning up their own party, rather than constantly throwing stones at the opposing party. Sell me on why I should join your party when it is corrupt as f***...
i follow you, but i dont. Im not trying to sell anyone on converting to a republican, Im actively looking for a valid candidTe with ideas that will steer me from voting for trump. Trump is a cancer to our social climate but thats an emotional based platform that i can live with if i don't see another plan that shows signs of being a better economic pan. Both parties have skeletons in the closet and out dancing around. Both parties need a fasting/ cleansing. but this will never happen without the right candidate with the right agenda. so again. What plan, ideas do you or anyone have that might sell me on not voting for Trump that isn't a hate trump opinion?
yeo. This is a whole other topic i would hope the majority of both parties could unify on. Key is it will take a candidTe with the balls to run with this as a goal and then that candidTe would have to be smooth enough to get congress to listen. And when we are talking about removing money from politicians pockets, because that is what this would be, will never be favored on the hill. Its one of those things that everyone knows it needs to happen, but everyone knows it never will. Kinda fucked up really.
I see, I guess maybe I missed the point, my bad. There is nobody in the democrat party I would vote for, at least not one that is a democrat anyway. Selling someone on anyone is generally a waste of time, so I won't waste yours and mine even trying.
i wish i could say i disagree but i don't. Someone just message me about this saying it would be a third party candidate forcing change, if it were to happen, and i don't disagree. but i want to key in on what you said. There isnt a dem candidate you would vote for? Why? i think this is what many feel right now that don't vote party line regardless and this should be a huge concern for the dems and is the foundation of my point this evening in this, and a couple other threads. Its my opinion that the dems have been far too fo used on hating trump instead of finding and pushing a solid candidate to unseat him. Instead it seems like most wNt to take the simple way of, trump is bad. Anyone but trump. Well i’m hear to say for myself and many other fencers, that isn't gonna cut it. Frankly, for me, its doing the opposite and reinforcing my conservative thoughts that will lead me to vote republican again. unfortunately when ive seen this, and tried myself, to point this out, it gets angry and hostile responses with little to nothing of value to provide answers or postive progression towards solutions. Instead its, “you will vote trump? You are evil.” Bs that i know myself and many others are just fed up with. And if this is the defense of the dems, then they don't deserve to take over the office this fall. I want mature constructive ideas on why i should vote for the dems and ill be all ears. Obviously there is a bit of a catch in what i ask, so im willing to break my all encompassing questions into segments/ partitioned into topics both foriegn and domestic, ie; border security, health care, foriegn affairs, etc. Each would be worthy of thier own discussions pinpointing facts and ideas on how to improve known flaws/weaknesses. there is nothing wrong with debating idealogies. Its when we close our ears and eyes and paint anyone who disagrees with us as evil, is when we lose. And we are all losing right now. now back to the OP, lets hear it. Anyone? Educate me please.
Sorry OB. But trying to find someone to vote for in this election is like trying to take a test with no right answers. What we need, from any party is, some one new with good fresh ideas to enter the race. A prince on a white horse to save the country.
and i think this might be why so many anti trumps get so frustrated and seemingly lose a bit of rational thought when searching for answers. Dems will win more votes using honey over shit though. So if there isn't a candidate, sell the party ideology in a manner that wins over the public and a candidate will rise(might be too late now though)
I've been hearing a bit more about him and plan on looking into him more. Any links, speeches, interviews pinpointing his ideologies on any specific topics?
I would recommend listening to one of his podcast appearances if you have the time. My favorite was when he was on Sam Harris's podcast but the Joe Rogan one is a good starting point to get an idea of what Yang is about. Also his website has his views on many, many topics. https://www.yang2020.com/policies/
thanks. Ill check these out tomorrow evening when i can focus more. Right now im still at odds on wanting to puke that sf won or celebrate my division is representing in the superbowl. Lol. @yankeesince59 i apologize for being harsh in the other thread. Please understand i do mean well. Just hard to take some things serious in a thread that starts out accusing republicans of not caring, followed up by generalized negative statements against republicans. I would think a bit of backlash would have been tolerated given the blanket accusations and labels that had been tossed around in that thread. anyhow. i meant no harm. Just trying to weed through the bs to find the valid honest issues of concern and discuss them. something i find difficult here. If you have ideas, id like to hear them.
Only about half way through the Rogan interview. My impression so far. I agree Yang has identified the problems caused by AI and automation. And he understands the future impact. Which is more than most candidates understand about this topic. But so far has failed to explain how his universal basic income plan fixes the problems of lost jobs. We already have unemployment payment plans in place that would pay out of work truckers and others more than his plan would. Will finish watching the remainder of the interview tomorrow, as well as study his platform in depth. I like him as a person, but have many questions and doubts about his plan.
