Jeter was the "man" on al of his Yankee Teams, one you could count on with each AB or Field Time. One who always wanted to win and put the team before himself. Congrats on his HOF selection and I'll add congrats to Walker as well.
Sorry, but I'm still steamed about the ONE voter who left DJ off the ballot...in all seriousness, how can he/she justify their idiocy. No disrespect to Mo, but if ANYONE ever deserved to be a unanimous first ballot HOFer, it is Derek Sanderson Jeter.
...and oh, if Biggio, Alomar, Sandberg, and Morgan are in the HOF as 2Bmen, Jeff Kent definitely belongs. The stats clearly show this, and it's not that close.
I didn't like the one vote miss either, the individual should be drawn and quartered. I do remember seeing articles about disgruntled individuals unhappy with Jeter after he acquired the Marlins. It was noted that the release of Dawson, Perez, Conine and the like were revenge for the 2003 World Series. Stupid assessment in my book, new ownership means changes that is common sense to me. Can't remember the name of the sports writer down there in Miami who was particularly critical of Jeters moves. A real dumb ass in my book, Jeter is the last guy you'd bet on to not succeed. If that writer or sports caster had a vote or had a crony with one that my be the answer. So Jeter may have ruffled some feathers, did not diminish his service time in MLB.
Dan Le Batard maybe? ...I think he's from down around Miami and I remember him going absolutely ballistic when Jeter traded Stanton and Yellich. But I'm not sure if he's a voter or not.
Le Batard, yep that's him and from what I can find out had his HOF Vote taken away from him for transferring it to a blog called Deadspin. At the risk of appearing totally stupid I will admit to having no knowledge of that blog. I will not admit my thoughts on Miami I'd be banned from the board. I really was hoping Jeter would buy into the Yankees but it did not happen. When he acquired the Miami Baseball team my first thought was to wish him well, he and Mattingly have a project down there and don't need interference from assholes who never played the game.
Le Batard is an obnoxious ass hat...that goes for both him and his Dad who I can't even understand when he's speaking. I still believe that someday Jeter will be at least a part owner of he Yanx. (with the help of a purchase group, of course)
I expect the Schmuck Schilling to get the nod in the next 2 years. He made up a lot of ground from his 60.9% last year to the 70% he received this year. Not my choice of a HOF'r. historically, once a player reaches 70 percent, it's only a matter of time until they get over the 75 percent threshold. Schilling has another two years remaining on the ballot and is likely to be voted into Cooperstown at some point given his current trajectory, and in all likelihood it will be next year. This shit **(noted below) outrages me as much if maybe no a bit more than Jeter not obtaining 100%, i.e. Bonds and Clemens getting more than 1%. **Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, continue to remain well short of induction. Bonds appeared 60.7 percent of submitted ballots, Clemens 61.0 percent. Both have two years of Hall of Fame eligibility remaining, though their support has stagnated in the 50-60 percent range the last few years. Barring a sudden jump in support for the next two years, neither will qualify for Cooperstown.
