Those are just excuses. It might be good politics to make those statements, but they don't make Trump innocent.

Difference being it would have easily taken more than a year for anything to be decided and the 2020 election would have been over. There hands were tied by trump and his obstruction agenda. Just like how the pubs cry about no first hand witnesses and they were the ones preventing first hand witnesses. Schumer said it best today. He spoke with several republican senators that claim nothing new has been presented in the senate and Schumer points out that they voted 9 times to deny new info to be presented. Can't make this shit up. This trial was already decided way before the impeachment as we have too many people in the senate that have no spines.

LOL! YOU LIVE PRIMARILY IN THE OT SECTION! You comment almost exclusively on political things! All indications point to the fact that this is the important stuff to you.

I make drive-by comments. That's about it. If people had other interesting shit to talk about, I'd probably participate in those discussions as well.

Every once in a while I'll chip in some comments.

Many people are fucking obsessed with politics and news. For the most part, ignore it all, you'll be happier with your life.

And if the Senate allows witnesses, and Trump again claims EP, how is the time spent going to court to compel testimony any shorter? The process is what the process is. Trump is entitled to all the legal and political maneuvering the Constitution allows. And, of course the outcome was known at the outset. Barring some horrible new revelation, there was never any chance he would be removed from office. I’ve said all along that this is pure political theater, with both sides playing to their bases and jockeying for an advantage next fall.

I’ve been consistent on here stating that I think Trump is trash. I think there’s not much question about him holding up the aid to gain a favor that was politically advantageous to him. That said, as of right now he is innocent. The Dems have seriously fouled up the process that might prove him guilty. Saying that is “excuses” is kind of silly.

    I look at
It as trump being exposed before the next election. It's not going to change his minority base but there are a lot of votes to be had outside his base. If he is voted out some credit will have to go to the impeachment.

Sure. As I said, that was the reason for this whole exercise all along. How jacked up is our system if you get ninnies like Trump for president and then both sides are willing to play with the impeachment process just to try to gain political advantage?

Do you think he did an impeachable offense? Do you think what he did was worse than Clinton?

To me, the Trump issue ultimately comes down to intent. If, as seems most likely, his intent was to use the power of his office to coerce a foreign government to dig up dirt on his main political opponent, then that’s an impeachable offense. OTOH, if he thought Biden had used the power of his office as VP to gain a lucrative job for Hunter in exchange for political favor, then it’s not as clear. If he had done the same thing to get info on potential corruption by a Republican senator, for example, do you think we’re having this discussion today? Knowing what I do about Trump and his history, my opinion is that he’s guilty as hell. But opinion isn’t proof and so far I haven’t seen a smoking gun on the intent issue.

On Clinton’s impeachment, I don’t think there was ever any doubt that he lied under oath. I think it comes down to the Lewinsky thing being pretty much a titillating story, but having no real impact on the country. I’m glad he got a pass.

This is all futile. GOP has decided that they no longer live in a democracy so they will inevitably acquit him. The only hope with this trial now is to keep the general public engaged enough to show them how corrupt this administration and party are, and to vote them out in November.

He doesn't give two shits one way or the other. He just likes to see people riled up. That's his energizer bunny. If it were up to him, he would burn everything down

I don't know how you reach the conclusion that he is "innocent" after your first statement here.

    There's battle lines being drawn
    Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
    Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
    Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
    Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's s time we stop, hey, what's that sound
    Everybody look what's going down
