Game Thread GAME# 47: PACERS @ BLAZERS - JANUARY 26, 2020 - SUNDAY, 6:00 PM, NBATV & NBCSNW

Discussion in 'Portland Trail Blazers' started by Darkwebs, Jan 23, 2020.

?

Of these 2 hypotheticals, which would you rather choose for the Blazers this season?

Poll closed Jan 30, 2020.
  1. Getting the 8th seed, subsequently being swept by the Lakers, but getting the 17th Pick

    67.3%
  2. Getting the 14th Draft Pick in this year's draft, but missing out on the Playoffs.

    32.7%

in between a taken charge and a nice pass he was regularly lit up defensively, but yeah I’d rather blame Stotts. It’s not Biggies fault he’s put in shitty situations (aka anywhere on the perimeter) Gabriel would’ve had a much better chance. So would Little. Pretty much anyone not named Biggie would have.

everyone got lit up on the perimeter. they were just on fire. i agree that we should have seen either Little or Gabriel, but Biggie was still better than Brown by a long shot.

if Brown was on the floor for 23 min, we would have lost by 30. Stotts kept him in for 2 min one game and pulled him cause he was lost. he also was in for 1 min another game and looked like he didn't know what a basketball was. any coach would have pulled him with the same quickness.

Why do you keep bringing Moses up, there are quite a few players in between Biggie and Moses that should get looks first.

We need to be close to .50% and make a run after the ASB. Believe, we still can. Let’s go

Anything could happen....but that would be a HUGE departure from how they have played against +.500 teams so far this season.

There was a time in Blazer yore where we had 10 game winning streaks.

I just don't see them making a run this year. I'm starting to feel like moving Whiteside for future development would be the best move.
Hope they play hard and play to win but to me it's time to develop and maybe get something rolling well for next season.

I like watching playoff basketball against the best teams and players. If the poll said all four games were blowouts, I might not choose that option, or if we were swept by the Pelicans again, or if Lebron James weren't playing, but I would not give up watching four hotly contested games involving the best all-around player maybe ever to play for 3 spots better in the middle if the draft.

That's similar to a Pacer fan not wanting to watch Michael Jordan late in his Chicago days sweep their team to get 3 spots better for the Pacers in the middle of the next draft. If you are attending the games I think that would be nuts.

But if Brown was on the floor for 23 minutes, chances are he will be improving. I don't think Swanigan has any upside.

I see 1, sadly. An OT win over Spurs.

I can’t ignore the way the team has played all year. I just can’t.

yeah, I think the poll question is too limited

Portland is currently 12th in the lottery, not 14th. And the biggest difference between the 12th and the 17th picks is that the 12th pick has a 7.2% chance of being a top-4 pick; the 17th pick has a 0% chance. And with Portland's schedule, by the time the deadline rolls around, the Blazers could be 9th or 10th in the lottery. The 9th pick has a 20.2% chance of being top-4; the 8th pick has a 26.2% chance of top-4; the 7th pick has a 32% chance of being top-4

those odds are starting to look better than any of the odds of Portland adding some contract ballast for Whiteside and making some team-altering trade next season. It's long shots all the way around, but 7 years of control over a rookie deal is attractive
