<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>ORLANDO, Fla. -- Patrick Ewing was hired as an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic, filling out Stan Van Gundy's staff. Ewing Brendan Malone, Steve Clifford and Bob Beyer also were hired as assistant coaches, the team said Tuesday. Ewing, an 11-time All-Star, was a Rockets assistant from 2004-06, and served on the Washington Wizards' coaching staff. He'll work with low-post players, including All-Star Dwight Howard. Ewing played 15 seasons, mostly with the New York Knicks, and finished his career with Orlando in 2001-02. "Brendan, Patrick, Steve and Bob bring a great deal of experience and knowledge to Orlando," Van Gundy said in a statement. "All four possess tremendous work ethic, have great attention to detail and will help our players reach their full potential." Malone has coached in the league almost two decades, most recently as a scout for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was a head coach in Toronto during the Raptors' first season. Clifford was an assistant for the Houston Rockets. Beyer, a former Raptors assistant, coached at the University of Dayton.</div>-ESPN.comGood move. He did a mighty fine job with Yao, now he'll help Dwight develop offensively.

This is a great move by the Magic, having him to develop Dwight Howard will work out alot. Like was said, he really helped Yao with his game, and now maybe he can develop Howard's game. To help out Ewing, Howard has outstanding athleticism, and explosiveness. That will give him something to work with that old Yao Ming just didn't have. If he can help Howard develop a little bit of range to his game, and definately show a couple of more moves in the post, Howard will be unstoppable.

This only means good things for Dwight Howard. Hopefully Ewing can teach him that legendary fall away baseline jumper. That was one of my all-time favorite moves to watch back in the day when Ewing was in his prime.

It had nothing to do with Ewing.

That is not true at all, Ewing did alot in developing Yao's game. It gave Yao a sure fire hall of famer to battle against during practice, and learn some of the moves he uses from. It gave him someone to push him during one on one drills. Yao will still be learning if it wasn't for Ewing to have worked with Yao throughout the past couple of seasons.

Yao IS still learning. The people that worked the most with Yao were JVG and Tom Thibodou (sp?). And he played against Mutombo in practice. Yao doesn't use any moves from Ewing either.Maybe with Dwight, it'll be a different story, but he wasn't a good coach for Yao. He wasn't a coach at all.
