I felt the exact opposite. Even disagree on Dieng being all that much of a downgrade over Hassan, especially with both Nurk and Zach coming back. The game against Minny when Dieng was pulling Whiteside out of the paint, pump faking, and driving for dunks is still fresh on my mind. Sadly, I think that was Minny's most recent win, and they've lost 11 straight since.
You should change your name to W.B. or Piney Pitch or something along those lines, if you catch my drift.
I mean the guy isn’t perfect, there’s plenty of other things you can criticize him for. But that Ariza deal was pretty damn good. The way Ariza has fit, he probably would’ve been worth two seconds on his own. If Gabriel turns into anything it’s a robbery.
I keep seeing “two picks” being thrown around as if it’s some great value, but it bears repeating: those picks are going to be in the 45-60 range, and those are regularly bought at cash value during draft time. Neil has slung second round picks like poo during his time here and none of those picks have come to bite us in the ass. If there is a target in the second round that Neil wants, he's been able to get them whether we originally had a pick or not.
ESL for my gf as well....incredible story on how she has come to where she is now. If you can translate the question or help her clarify, I'd be happy to try and answer. This site needs more female class.
Parker has a player option so we'd only be taking on Dieng who would fit better as a backup than Whiteside would, IMO. I'm not so sure about that. When KAT was out and Dieng was the center with no other changes the Wolves defense was #1 in the NBA. Since KAT has come back they've been 26th.
just a review of when Portland is 'scheduled to be next season: Damian Lillard $31,626,953 CJ McCollum $29,354,152 Trevor Ariza $12,800,000 Jusuf Nurkić $12,000,000 Rodney Hood $6,003,900 Zach Collins $5,406,255 Anfernee Simons $2,252,040 Nassir Little $2,210,640 Mario Hezonja $1,882,867 Gary Trent $1,663,861 (Andrew Nicholson) $2,844,429 (Anderson Varejão) $1,913,345 $109,958,442 for 10 players with the tax line around 139-140M and the apron at 145-146M now, the variables: * 1st round pick - 2.5-3.5M * Skal - RFA; 3-5M? * Full MLE - 10M * Full BAE - 3.8M (Melo?) * Whiteside - 8-12M so then, 15 potential players with 27M salary on low end and 33-34M on high end. Low end = 2-3M below tax line. High end = 3-5M above tax line and, the Blazers still have that 7M TPE to work into the equation that's bullshit....I have commended that Ariza trade several times more than that, I have praised Olshey's mastery of the bargain bin. That's his wheelhouse, and that was the template of the Ariza trade 1 - yeah, I'm assuming Parker isn't going to turn down 6.5M 2 - and yeah, I'm assuming the free agent market for Whiteside is going to be even less robust than the free agent market for Nurkic. Can you point to a team that would pay him more than 11M? Kanter couldn't even get half that. Furthermore, I don't think Whiteside signing elsewhere is a worse outcome than paying Dieng and Parker 23M next season exactly....he can opt in and almost certainly would. He's not going to toss away 6.5M on spec
Agreed on both points. Parker is for sure picking up that option. Also, I struggle finding where Whiteside finds a deal that will pay him more than what Portland should be willing to pay ($10-14m).
That's not very convincing. If you like, you can put him on the list of players who had a good game against Portland. Edit: you should watch the highlights of Whiteside working over Nurkic last season in Portland. Then what?
Whiteside Vs Nurkic : Here's the video: Whiteside scores 28 points on 11 of 12 shooting. He had 4 steals,2 blocks and 11 rebounds. Nurkic? Nurk was 2 of 7 for 8 points. He had 5 rebounds, 0 blocks but he did have 6 assists (whiteside had 0 assists). Nurkic played 23 minutes, whiteside 30 minutes. Whiteside's team won by 10 points in Portland. https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=401071476 Edit: let's get that guy! he had a great game against Nurk.
How is that relevant? I simply said that one game stood out to me, but not the reason I proposed that idea.
Kennard to Suns would make so much sense for both teams. Detroit probably won’t be good for another 5-6 years so it’d be a waste to keep him, Suns could use an elite shooter and their first round pick does sound like all right compensation.
I'm pretty sure she didn't understand your question at all so she went for a generic answer... But managed to contradict herself in the sentence So not really a meaning behind it
That would be a good video for the Nurk vs. Whiteside thread. Looks as if Adeybayo was not playing so maybe HW was fired up bgetting to start. How did Nurk do offensively?
yeah that’s my thought as much as we all love Lillard he and CJ haven’t been able to get anyone to come here. Carmelo is well liked and might be able to help lure an aging vet at lower cost. Just a thought
