Not unimaginable for Wiggins to have a similar impact here. https://www.theringer.com/nba/2020/...s-trade-golden-state-warriors-dangelo-russell
Stop the Presses: Atlanta is going to waive Chandler Parsons. Neil went after him for loads of dough. He can be had for vet min. He's our SFotF! Neil, get 'er done!
Thing is, if you're the Warriors, don't you think that Wiggins is a better fit with Steph/Klay/Dray than Whiteside is?
Man, I want that Houston vs Portland first round match up. Too bad we have a crappy record. Dame vs Russ part 2
Whiteside is not going there to play. He's an expiring contract salary filler. Think they'd rather get multiple picks in return for Russell and an outside shot at capspace this summer, instead of Wiggins. The article said they want an unprotected 2021 pick from Minny in exchange for taking Wiggins, I believe they'd ease their demands on those picks if they were getting an expiring instead.
Right now Spotrac is showing $145M in salaries for them next year. Even if they offloaded DLo for nothing, how are they coming by any meaningful amount of capspace?
One additional trade suggestion: Orlando Gordan + Bamba + '20 2nd -> CJ They get the scorer that they've been wanting for a long time. Houston TPE + '22 1st -> Bamba They find the cheap C to round out their roster for this year. Golden State Burks -> TPE + '20 2nd (Orlando) Reduces the taxes and Burks is not in the long-term plans Atlanta Cap Space -> Caleb (cut) + '20 2nd (Portland) Obtain asset for current cap space Portland CJ + Caleb + '20 2nd -> Gordan + Burks + '22 1st (Houston) Balances roster significantly & gets out of the TAX. Burks can replace 85%-90% of what CJ does at a fraction of the cost. Portland gets a talented P&R forward to play with the best P&R guard in the league. The cherry on top, is the Houston 1st in '22 which is supposed to be a very deep & talented draft. Melo goes to the bench with this trade, which is where he should be watching from anyhow...
I mentioned outside shot, but ya, it would take more maneuvering. Would at least create more flexibility for a team that is just coming away from being hardcapped.
Neil will use the 4 game win streak as his reason to not make any trades... even tho it was all due to Dame averaging 50 ppg which is not sustainable. Last nights loss to Denver was a reality check I’m sure Neil will ignore... purgatory
Sounds like an idea from a Lakers' message board. I have doubts about Simons and am lukewarm to CJ (I certainly don't consider him untouchable), but this is brutal.
The big driver for all this is tax savings. Did a similar kinda move last year. Their new owner is super cheap. His reprimand of Morey about the Hong Kong/China stuff was appalling. And he's letting D'Antoni coach as a lame duck. Dude doesn't realize it costs money to run a successful NBA franchise, clearly.
He is definitely more interested in their bottom line than on court success. I do not understand Westbrook trade in the light of this though.
Evan Turner and Chandler Parsons should thank Neil Olshey. They’re getting paid for doing nothing lol
The idea of taking a shot on Wiggins isn’t bad in a vacuum, but when you factor in his contract the risk outweighs the reward, by a lot. His RPM is identical to Bazemores. He’s technically still only 24, but it’s his sixth year in the league. I don’t really see the upside. If he was a free agent I’d give him a couple mil to maybe see if we can get more out of him, but 80m+? No thanks.
CJ + 2020 1st + $ for Jrue Holiday Pels likely throw the phone out the window. Holinger's analysis says that move doesn't effect either team's winning percentage. I disagree.
