depending on where they are, after a trade, they could take on the salary (12.8M for Ariza) + 5M + 100K
Mannix: The Spurs are something of a mystery. They rarely make midseason trades but there is some league-wide thinking that both Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan could be available. https://www.si.com/nba/2020/02/04/nba-trade-deadline-preview-latest-buzz-intel-rumors
Spurs aren’t dumb. They should know their roster as currently constructed is an eighth seed, at best, and they’ll most likely be losing DeRozan in the summer. I bet there’d be a good market for Aldridge, besides Portland. Miami for example. If I were them I’d try and deal both those guys.
What if you toss CJ into the deal and take DeRozan? Does that make the Blazers better or worse? Contenders or not?
Not anything substantial but did just get texted this: "Interesting that Capela, Nene & Green add up to $26.52M. Is there a way they move all of that, add Whiteside ($27.09M)and ship Covington to Portland?" Not even sure how that would work cap wise. Just a text from someone trying to be coy/vague who has had some decent info before.
Yeah it’s super likely they’d trade Capela and a first round pick to get Whiteside who’s basically the same player only older.
Doesn't make much sense, Hawks clearly targeted Capela and want him to be their CoTF after this year.
I like this idea, and I agree that the time is right. But,... 1) Could you imagine LMA leaving us TWICE? 2) LMA needs the ball to be effective, Whiteside doesn't.
1. He wouldn’t dare. But seriously, he’s talked about wanting to come back. 2. Aldridge averages 14.5 attempts a game, roughly the same as Melo. I also think CJ would be better fit in a catch and shoot role (ala Klay) than the one he’s currently in where he ISOs all game.
Hmmmm, yeah it would definitely take at least a 1st for me to consider taking on Wiggins. Maybe rights to pick swap too? Wiggins is terrible though and is on a max contract for 3 more years.
Just say no to LaMarsha! The former Blazer I would not mind back is Napier. After the big trade yesterday, I believe Denver now has 3 PGs.
Parsons got in a car accident and may never be able to play basketball again (not sure if you were being serious).
No, we can't reacquire Harkless BUT we can now reacquire Evan Turner! That trade is awful for the Clippers and Knicks.
