Always love moron fans from know nothing hockey states like Carolina calling Gauthier a bust. Yeah, 22 years old, 227 lbs, righty shot, great skater, 26 G 37 points in 44 AHL games this year. 27 goals the year before. JD and Gorton said the team needs to get bigger and tougher. This is exactly the kind of player you need to win more games vs teams that play the style Boston, Washington and Columbus do. Though Keane was a good prospect but he had 0.00% chance of making this team. Who knows. He might have asked for a deal. That would have been smart on his part. This is exactly the type of trades we need.

Probably one of my favorite deals in a long time. Benson being showcased by Oilers. Puljujarvi and Benson for Fast and Skjei. Make it happen Gorton. Take back Gagne to make money work and then he's gone the year after.

The power of our defenseman in our system is officially on full display.

He's already been called up to the big club. Yes!

Was he called up already? I look forward to seeing him, maybe against his former org. on Friday or at home against SJ if they hold out Kreider. He seems to be a player with Nash/Kreider traits. Nice move by Gorton, hopefully they can add another big time forward prospect or two at the DL and draft. Should be an interesting next 5 days. Maybe they get a Bowers or Kaut from COL or Bjork from Boston in a deal.

There certainly is a need for him. I'm fn tired of watching Fast in the 4th line and our team get out muscled in the corners.

Not nearly enough talk about this player we acquired. Once again, our lazy fan base does no research and has no idea what JD and Gorton acquired. This will down as an enormous move in our rebuild.

I meant to post yesterday but you nailed it in the second post. A big, shoot-first winger who can skate very well for his size. Proven record of putting the puck in the net. I dont know much about his defensive game but he checks a lot of boxes and represents the philosophy this team is trying to build: be hard to play against. I like this move a lot.

Keane was promising, but at the end of the day he was behind 4 other guys for a right hand D spot. No-brainer deal.

Finally, another player other than Kreider who can be a net front presence. He should be at least a 20-25g player in time. Seems a little bit of a steal though Keane was a solid prospect. Guess Carolina was too deep at forward.

Had me at 6'4" 235 but he only makes $865K for the next 2 years, a definite upgrade to McKegg. Another great trade by Gorton.

He better be. I've been pumped all day. I would have never given this guy up with his size and the way he scores and skates in the AHL at 22. However, Carolina was desperate to make the playoffs with Hamilton out. I think Keane will be a good NHL defenseman. Not worth giving up a guy with that size, skating and finishing skills. I was talking about going after Mantha. This was a better move. Put him with Panarin and let the kid flourish.

Yeah, if he is the game tonight you have to put him in Fast's spot. Move Fast to the 4th line and give Howden the night off.

Beat writers said he is playing on the 4th, with Howden going back to C and McKegg to the box. Honestly, that’s fine for his first game. Let him get acclimated a bit. Fast is likely still being showcased so having him stay with Panarin is fine. Lemieux-Howden-Gauthier is not a typical 4th line, there’s some decent skill there.

Amazing the number of shots they pass up.
