The personal attorney of Rudy Giuliani's indicted associate Lev Parnas has questioned Devin Nunes' claim that he was not able to confirm whether he'd had a phone conversation with Parnas.

Parnas' lawyer Joseph Bondy said that Parnas "remembers" what the pair allegedly spoke about in a tweet directed at Nunes yesterday, responding to the California representative's claim that he was "not able to confirm" whether the pair had any phone conversation.

The attorney's latest swipe at the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee followed the panel's release of call logs supposedly involving Nunes, Parnas and Giuliani, published Tuesday in its impeachment report.

Nunes has been accused of taking part in phone calls with the president's personal lawyer, as well as Parnas and fellow Giuliani associate Igor Furman, who are both alleged to have helped Giuliani request that Ukraine investigate President Donald Trump's political rival Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

Speaking to Fox News on Thursday about the release of his phone records, Nunes said: "I still have to even go through my phone records to see if he's [Adam Schiff] even telling the truth."

Asked what he discussed with Parnas, the GOP representative said: "Well I don't even know because I've never met Lev Parnas... and so it's a great question because many people want to know, including myself."

"You never had any phone conversation with him?" host Martha MacCallum asked.

Nunes responded: "We have not been able to confirm that yet."

Asked if he didn't think he would remember if he had a phone call with Parnas, he said: "You have to remember, we are the House Intelligence Committee, Oversight Committee. So we get calls from people every day. All walks of life. I get them from all over the world. From allies and people that aren't our allies."

Hey @DevinNunes—Lev remembers what you spoke about. You don’t remember? #LetLevSpeak https://t.co/UlKZnGCxqR

    — Joseph A. Bondy (@josephabondy) December 6, 2019
The California representative later said it wasn't known whether the calls were from his cellphone or his office phone, saying his team was dealing with "thousands of pages of metadata."

Parnas' personal lawyer was not convinced by Nunes' Fox News appearance yesterday. Responding to his interview with the network, Bondy tweeted: "Hey @DevinNunes—Lev remembers what you spoke about. You don't remember? #LetLevSpeak".

Newsweek has contacted the office of Rep. Devin Nunes for a response.

Bondy's tweet Thursday came just a few days after he also told the ranking minority member of the House Intelligence Committee that he "should have recused yourself at the outset" of the impeachment hearings.

Congressman Nunes admitted he spoke to Giuliani over the phone while speaking to Fox News' Sean Hannity this week, but said it was to laugh at how the Mueller report into Russian interference in the 2016 election had "completely bombed and flamed out."

He also said that he did not "really recall" the name of Parnas but admitted it was "possible" that he spoke to the indicted associate of Giuliani.

"I'll go back and check on my records," Nunes said. "But it seems very unlikely that I would be taking calls from random people."

You know it's really interesting that in 2012 Trump tweeted that this "source" called TRUMP's office to tell him Obama's birth certificate is a fraud. He called Trump. Who was doing what at the time? Hosting the apprentice? Is it understood that Trump was sowing the seeds of division and racism that far back while looking at a presidential run 4 full years later? Or was he just being a racist asshole to be a racist asshole?

Iran state TV sees at least 2 news anchors quit: 'Forgive me for the 13 years I told you lies'
By Louis Casiano | Fox News

Iranian riot police fire tear gas at protesters

Iranian police and security forces crack down on demonstrators protesting against the Islamic Republic after the country mistakenly downed a Ukrainian airline; Rick Leventhal has the latest.

At least two Iranian journalists at a state-owned media outlet reportedly resigned from their jobs, and another left a while back, apologizing for "the 13 years I told you lies" to her supporters as Tehran grapples with the fallout from protests stemming from a cover-up of its accidental downing of a Ukrainian airliner.

Gelare Jabbari posted an apology on an Instagram that appears to have been deleted.

“It was very hard for me to believe that our people have been killed," the post read, according to The Guardian. "Forgive me that I got to know this late. And forgive me for the 13 years I told you lies.”

Two news anchors at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting thanked their supporters in separate statements.

BARR SAYS DOJ WAS CONSULTED BEFORE SOLEIMANI STRIKE AS TRUMP GOES ON DEFENSIVE

“Thank you for accepting me as anchor until today," said Zahra Khatami. "I will never get back to TV. Forgive me.”

Fellow anchor Saba Rad said she was leaving journalism after 21 years.

“Thank you for your support in all years of my career," she said. "I announce that after 21 years working in radio and tv, I cannot continue my work in the media. I cannot.”

The resignations come as Iranians again took to the streets in anti-government protests Monday. Many are calling for the ouster of government leaders after the shooting down of a Ukrainian passenger plane that Iran initially denied responsibility for. Tehran later walked back its denial and admitted to downing the plane in a misfire during attacks on bases in Iraq where American troops are housed.

The attacks followed the killing of Iranian Quds Gen. Qassem Soleimani in a U.S. airstrike. The resignations come as some Iranians have an unfavorable view of the media, which is tightly controlled by the regime.

The protests have led to reported harsh crackdowns by security forces, further fragmenting the relationship between the regime, the media and Iranians. The Tehran-based Association of Iranian Journalists said the public was witnessing "a funeral for public trust."

Ghanbar Naderi, a commentator on Iran’s state-run Press TV, said the regime's lies about the airliner have eroded the public trust in its leaders and state media broadcasters.

“Millions and millions took [to] the streets following the assassination of Qassem Suleimani," Naderi told BBC Radio Today. "It was a rare moment of unity but the IRGC blew it. As a journalist you need to be able to sleep at night. I will never ever distance myself from the truth. This a great nation. It has made many mistakes that are unacceptable. If the IRGC shot down a civilian airplane, I have no choice but to condemn it.”

In a statement, the Association of Iranian Journalists said state-owned media outlets have lost public confidence after publishing false or misleading information.

"We lie loudest when we lie to ourselves; and Islamic Republic of Iran state television employees acknowledge that their credibility has been lost," the group said, according to the newspaper. "Unaware that the credibility of this media and most of the domestic media had long since vanished."

Reporters Without Borders ranks Iran as one of the most repressive states for journalists. It said state control of the news is "unrelenting" and at least 860 journalists have been imprisoned or executed since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

“Independent journalists, citizen-journalists and independent media are constantly subjected to intimidation, arbitrary arrest and long jail sentences imposed by revolutionary courts at the end of unfair trials,” the organization said.

Washington Post reporter suspended over Kobe Bryant tweets demands explanation from editor Marty Baron
By Joseph A. Wulfsohn | Fox News

The Washington Post reporter who was reinstated after being suspended for her tweets that were made in the wake of NBA legend Kobe Bryant's sudden passing is now calling on the paper's editor to publicly explain why she was punished to begin with.

Washington Post Managing Editor Tracy Grant issued a statement on Tuesday addressing the controversy surrounding political reporter Felicia Sonmez, whom critics slammed for sharing a report about the sexual assault allegation against Bryant as the news of his tragic death was still breaking on Sunday.

"After conducting an internal review, we have determined that, while we consider Felicia's tweets ill-timed, she was not in clear and direct violation of our social media policy," Grant said. "Reporters on social media represent The Washington Post, and our policy states 'we must be ever mindful of preserving the reputation of The Washington Post for journalistic excellence, fairness, and independence.' We consistently urge restraint, which is particularly important when there are tragic deaths. We regret having spoken publicly about a personnel matter."

Now, Sonmez is defiantly calling on Executive Editor Marty Baron to explain what went on behind the paper's handling of the controversy.

WASHINGTON POST'S MEDIA CRITIC, GUILD SLAM OWN PAPER FOR SUSPENDING REPORTER OVER KOBE BRYANT TWEETS

"I believe that Washington Post readers and employees, including myself, deserve to hear directly from Marty Baron on the newspaper’s handling of this matter," Sonmez said in a statement Tuesday. "Washington Post journalists endeavor to live up to the paper’s mission statement, which states, 'The newspaper shall tell ALL the truth so far as it can learn it, concerning the important affairs of America and the world.'"

"My suspension, and Mr. Baron’s Jan. 26 email warning me that my tweets about a matter of public record were 'hurting this institution,' have unfortunately sown confusion about the depth of management’s commitment to this goal," she continued.

"I hope Washington Post newsroom leaders will not only prioritize their employees’ safety in the face of threats of physical harm but also ensure that no journalist will be punished for speaking the truth," Sonmez added.

The Washington Post declined to comment.

Earlier in the evening, The Washington Post Newspaper Guild issued a response to Sonmez's reinstatement, welcoming the decision but expressing disappointment that the paper's statement did not offer an apology to the reporter, and condemned the employer for not prioritizing its staff.

"We remain concerned that The Post did not take swift action to provide her with protection and support. We urge the company to prioritize employee safety above all else," the Guild wrote.

Sonmez was slammed on social media for sharing a 2016 story about 2003 rape allegations from The Daily Beast headlined, “Kobe Bryant’s Disturbing Rape Case: The DNA Evidence, the Accuser’s Story, and the Half-Confession," as details of the helicopter crash were still trickling out.

Sonmez doubled down with numerous follow-up tweets after her initial message was hit with an onslaught of backlash, writing that the response was “eye-opening” and claiming she received abuse and death threats.

“Any public figure is worth remembering in their totality... even if that public figured is beloved and that totality unsettling,” Sonmez wrote. “That folks are responding with rage & threats toward me… speaks volumes about the pressure people come under to stay silent in these cases.”

Sonmez eventually deleted the tweets, but her employer wasn’t pleased and placed her on administrative leave pending a review.

The Washington Post placed a political reporter Felicia Sonmez on administrative leave over tweets she sent as news of Kobe Bryant’s death unfolded.

“National political reporter Felicia Sonmez was placed on administrative leave while The Post reviews whether tweets about the death of Kobe Bryant violated The Post newsroom’s social media policy. The tweets displayed poor judgment that undermined the work of her colleagues,“ Grant told Fox News at the time.

The Post's punishment of its reporter then faced its own backlash from inside the paper, including from the Guild, as well as from its media critic Eric Wemple, who knocked his employer's "misguided" suspension of Sonmez for sharing a "very good story" from The Daily Beast about the misconduct claims against Bryant.

Wemple revealed from his own interview with Sonmez that The Post condemned her for the tweets because "they didn't 'pertain'" to her "coverage area" and that "your behavior on social media is making it harder for others to do their work as Washington Post journalists.”

"A couple of thoughts about those objections: One, if journalists at The Post are prone to suspension for tweeting stories off their beats, the entire newsroom should be on administrative leave," Wemple wrote. "Two, the contention that sharing a link to a news article complicates the work of others requires supporting evidence."

Dan Gainor: CNN panel mocks Trump supporters – Anchor who whines about 'toxicity' delivers just that

By Dan Gainor | Fox News

Three years into President Donald Trump’s first term and the news media still don’t understand how we got here.

Saturday, CNN Anchor Don Lemon show blasted Trump, his administration and his supporters. It was almost like CNN was trying its best to create a clip Trump could use in an ad to win his second term.

That meant Lemon, who last June said he might have to leave TV because of “toxicity,” laughed uproariously at his own toxic TV show. And the network that regularly complains about “hateful speech” by the administration, actually promoted the incident.

CNN DON LEMON PANEL FACES INTENSE BACKLASH FOR MOCKING TRUMP SUPPORTERS AS ILLITERATE 'CREDULOUS RUBES'

The segment featured obnoxious anti-Trumper Rick Wilson. Wilson, who calls himself an “Apostate GOP Media Guy,” blasted the “boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump.” The demented outburst went unnoticed for two days because so few people actually watched Lemon’s show. That meant it took till Monday for pushback.

The exchange began with Lemon asking about the dust-up between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and NPR Host Mary Louise Kelly over Ukraine. That’s when Wilson went off on Trump and everyone else, saying “Donald Trump couldn't find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter ‘U’ and the picture of an actual physical crane next to it.”

That’s about the time that journalist/anchor Lemon started laughing so hard he put his head on the desk as Wilson slammed the administration, as well. Wilson complained it was “playing to the base” and launched into a Southern drawl, mockingly saying: "Donald Trump's the smart one — and y'all elitists are dumb!”

That was when Wajahat Ali, a New York Times Contributing Oped Writer and CNN contributor, joined in the mockery. Here’s the memorable exchange:

“ALI: You elitists with your geography and your maps and your spelling!

WILSON: Your math and your reading!

ALI: Yeah, your reading, you know, your geography, knowing other countries, sipping your latte!

WILSON: All those lines on the map!

ALI: Only them elitists know where Ukraine is!”

On Monday, the firestorm began. Conservatives struck back at CNN and those involved, retweeting the video from several sources tens of thousands of times. The Daily Caller said, “America, this is what CNN thinks of you…” The Washington Examiner described it as: “CNN's Don Lemon and guests mock Trump supporters as uneducated and illiterate.”

The Federalist co-founder Sean Davis sarcastically tweeted: “I can’t tell if this is CNN or if it’s that episode on Trailer Park Boys where Bubbles tries to start his own public access channel TV show.”

Trump himself retweeted a Daily Caller video of the segment, commenting: ”Don Lemon, the dumbest man on television (with terrible ratings!).” And WIlson took to Twitter to blast his critics. He summarized it as “‘Team “F--- Your Feelings’ is out in force today with their fake rage and their ‘duh elites hate u fer lovin’ Trump” piffle.’”

If Trump wins in November, he should send all three a nice “Thank you” note.

CNN continues obsession about Trump’s eating habits, this time over food options in India

By Brian Flood | Fox News

'America loves India': Trump delivers message of hope to over 100,000 rally attendees

Crowds pack the world's largest cricket stadium to welcome President Trump followed by a first family visit to the Taj Mahal; Kevin Corke reports from New Delhi.

The liberal network that once hyperventilated because President Trump is sometimes served an extra scoop of ice cream has struck again – this time mocking the president because he might have to eschew a cheeseburger or two during his trip to India.

CNN published an article on Sunday – “'I have never seen him eat a vegetable:' Trump braces for a beef-free menu in India” – co-written by Kaitlan Collins, Kevin Liptak and Vivian Salama.

“When President Donald Trump travels abroad … his hosts usually try make him feel at home with his favorite meal: steak with miniature bottles of ketchup on the side. But what's a beef-lover to do in India? The president, whose diet is often a rotation of steaks, burgers and meatloaf, faces a potential shock as he prepares to travel to three Indian cities this week,” CNN wrote.

CNN’S OBSESSION WITH TRUMP’S ICE CREAM INTAKE RESUMES WITH LAMPOONED DESSERT REPORT

The liberal network then explained that cows are revered as sacred in many of the areas that Trump will visit and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to serve vegetarian food during the president's visit.

“Trump's aides have been known to intervene to ensure Trump's tastes are catered to when he's on the road (he once had steak twice in a day while abroad.) A person close to the president who has dined with him on several occasions said Trump has salad with a meal every now and then – but other than that, ‘I have never seen him eat a vegetable,’” the CNN reporters wrote.

The report made sure to note that “even one of the president's favorite fast food restaurants, McDonald's, doesn't serve beef in India,” so a former official is concerned.

"I don't know what he's going to do in this case,” someone identified as a “former official” told CNN.

“If there was just one article that encapsulated how CNN’s obsession with attacking President Trump borders on parody, this might be it,” Media Research Center analyst Kristine Marsh wrote. “The elitist reporters ended their article harping on Trump for staying awake on Air Force One and preferring to sleep in his own bed.”

DePauw University professor and media critic Jeffrey McCall told Fox News that it’s “fine for the media to do a sort of travelogue about the president's visit to India,” because there are bound to be some unique aspects of his trip, given the cultural differences between the United States and India.

"The rhetorical thrust of this particular story, however, seems to be that Trump is ethnocentric and quirky. For CNN, this story is not so much about giving the public a look into Trump's trip to India as it is to characterize Trump's picky personal habits,” McCall said. “That Trump is particular on these matters just makes him like most other American presidents over the years.”

Critics took to Twitter to mock CNN for the article:

CNN PANEL FACES INTENSE BACKLASH FOR MOCKING TRUMP SUPPORTERS AS ILLITERATE 'CREDULOUS RUBES'

“CNN is never satisfied just covering the news of the president meeting with a major ally,” MRC vice president Dan Gainor told Fox News. "It apparently took three reporters to note how Trump ‘faces a potential shock’ traveling to India, even though he's been there before and somehow survived.”

Collins, one of the three reporters who penned the latest piece about Trump’s eating habits, also wrote a piece last month revealing what Trump was consuming as news broke that Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani was killed by a U.S. airstrike. The blog post, “President Trump dined on ice cream as news of the airstrike broke,” that also revealed meatloaf was served for dinner that evening.

Feminist Jill Filipovic wrote an op-ed for CNN in 2018 that criticized the Trump administration’s proposal that food delivery services could replace a portion of food stamps with actual food. She made several points, including that Trump “reportedly enjoys treating himself to an extra scoop of ice cream after dinner every night” but “proposes cutting billions in social support and health care.”

Back in May 2017, CNN was widely panned for devoting significant airtime to a Time magazine report that Trump was served two scoops of vanilla ice cream at a dinner with reporters. CNN’s often-sarcastic chyron even called the extra scoop of ice cream an “executive privilege.”

CNN’s Jeanne Moos reported the extra serving of ice cream in a segment that also pointed out that Trump was possibly served a different salad dressing than his guests and that he sometimes eats fast food.

In 2016, the liberal network criticized Trump’s Diet Coke intake, literally lining up 12 cans of the beverage on Brooke Baldwin’s anchor desk to demonstrate the amount of soda the president reportedly consumes.

CNN’s chyron at the time said, “Trump reportedly drinks 12 diet cokes a day (Is that normal?)”

I'm not obsessed with his diet, but I ask you one question: do you cook your steaks to well done and eat it with ketchup?

If there was ever a treasonous act, this has to be it.

I don't mind a little pink in my steak, but not too much. My wife cooks it with wine, mushrooms, and garlic butter. Ketchup on something like that is... no. just no...

Charred, medium rare for me. Must be grilled. I use kosher salt on my steaks half an hour before grilling. It brings out that wonderful crust.
My wife sautes some sliced mushrooms in butter to accompany the steak. I use to eat my steak with a traditional baked potato but have trouble eating half a steak these days, let alone a baked potato.
We always have our steaks with an expensive red wine such as cabernet sauvignon. Then, we try to finish the bottle and head for bed where we typically pass out from the two or three glasses of wine. Yeah, old fogies are light weights when it comes to drinking.
Sometimes my wife will grill asparagus and make me eat the tips 'cause she prefers the stalks.
    Damn, I'm getting hungry already.
Where's crandc when you need her?

I ate them when I was a toddler. My father was from Alabama and he loved them. I loved to eat anything my daddy ate.
At one time you could find them in a jar at every supermarket in Portland.
Have I eaten them since I was two? No, and will never eat them again.
