No. 9 Maryland tops No. 25 Michigan 83-70 Each member of the Maryland basketball team took turns gripping the trophy awarded to the Big Ten Conference champions. They wore bright red hats boasting their accomplishment, and they proudly cut down the nets on each side of the court. It really didn't matter to coach Mark Turgeon or the No. 9 Terrapins that their 83-70 victory over 25th-ranked Michigan on Sunday was good for only a share of the regular-season title. After more than four months' worth of exhilarating wins and bitterly disappointing defeats, the robust celebration -- which served as a welcome release of emotion -- came without apology. read more https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401166268

Reuvers Leads No. 7 Wisconsin Past Eastern Illinois, 77-67 Eastern Illinois' Jordan Skipper-Brown (2) shoots against Wisconsin's Ben Carlson (20) during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, in Madison, Wis. Wisconsin big man Nate Reuvers posed all sorts of problems for Eastern Illinois, which had no way to replicate him in practice. Panthers coach Jay Spoonhour doesn’t exactly have a roster full of 6-foot-11 players who can score inside and out, rebound and block shots. Reuvers did all three Wednesday night as the seventh-ranked Badgers began their season with a 77-67 victory over Eastern Illinois. The senior scored 18 points, finishing 2 of 3 on 3-pointers, and grabbed nine rebounds to go with five blocks. Omouryi Has Big Debut, No. 24 Rutgers Beats Sacred Heart Rutgers guard Ron Harper Jr. (24) dunks over Sacred Heart forward Matas Spokas (23) during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, in Piscataway, N.J No. 24 Rutgers opened up its most anticipated season in decades without its sixth man. While Rutgers will be without junior swingman Caleb McConnell, who will take a medical redshirt because of a back problem, it was the missing fans that were more jarring. With the Scarlet Knights ranked in the AP preseason poll for the first in 41 years, the buzz that would have been around the Rutgers Athletic Center was missing. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 150 people were allowed in the 8,000-seat venue that saw 10-consecutive sellouts last season as Rutgers rose in the Big Ten and Top 25 rankings. Nonetheless, freshman center Cliff Omouryi had 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting and added 11 rebounds to help Rutgers beat Sacred Heart 86-63 on Wednesday night in their opener.
