I'll let you know if I hear anything: Hello. I'm best known as Zack Addy on the TV show "Bones" but I'm also a big NBA fan. In fact, though I live in NYC, I moved to Portland for a whole season to be a season ticket holder for my favorite team, the Trail Blazers. With the season now suspended, I'm nervous. The announcement was made that the NBA will resume the season in June. What does that mean though? Will we finish the season in full? As you know, my Blazers are 29-37, 3.5 games behind 8 seeded Memphis Grizzlies. We have 16 games remaining, including 2 against the Grizzlies. We probably need all those games to rally and make the playoffs. Is that still a possibility? Or could there be a play-in tournament? Thank you for reading this email. I hope to hear back from you.
If there is a rest of this season, it will start with the playoffs using current standings. Teams not in can go fishing.
Have they been tweeting that? Or is that just a rumor or speculation like when we heard all last season that Durant was coming to the Knicks?
Is there something else besides the NBA that I should be talking about on an NBA message board? This is where I come to talk NBA. Says nothing about my priorities.
You just said YOU sent an email to the league, as if they have nothing else on their plates right now. There's a pandemic going around, the NBA is the last thing we need to worry about coming back soon, or the Blazers "making the playoffs".
Spencer Dinwiddie is suggesting the NBA go the March Madness route and do a 30 team playoff. That would be hysterically fun. Go New York Go New York Go!
Who said the NBA was the first thing to worry about? I'm not bringing the rest of the world to this forum. Just basketball. And I'm sure the NBA appreciates contact from the fans. Without us, they have no league. And they're trying to guess what we would buy into in their meetings right now. What the fans think matters big time. Also- it's important to society that we move forward as soon as is possible. I lived in NYC for 9/11 and we bounced back really fast. Broadway re-opened two days later. This virus is much much worse but bouncing back as soon as you can is important. I guess you don't care about all the people who have lost their livelihood from the NBA season being suspended. HCP has shared his story. You want to tell him that him getting back to work soon is the "last thing we need to worry about"?
I think this season is over and there's little chance of resuming it in June. I'm even beginning to suspect the football season will be cancelled on all levels. things probably won't start getting back to normal until after there's a widely available vaccine but I'm not Nostradamus
You are spending time posting on a Blazers message board. That is the last thing you need to worry about. As if you have nothing else on your plate now.
I think you are right. They should just think about next season and maybe not starting til Christmas, which is what they were considering for the future anyway.
In China, things are improving, new cases of the coronavirus have dropped and life is starting to return to normal. Maybe that gives some clue about the timeline here. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesa...-temporary-coronavirus-hospital/#6338f9295bc5
That article is from the 11th which is an eternity when it comes to this virus. That latest news that I heard is coronavirus cases are on the rise today in China.
Looks like NBA is considering everything... https://basketball.realgm.com/wiret...s-Including-Best-Of-Five-Early-Playoff-Rounds
