Players want a season as well as playoffs... https://basketball.realgm.com/wiret...-Page-With-NBA-Trying-To-Save-Season-Playoffs But maybe the one played trailblazer18 talks to knows all?
Interesting that they're going to seek out "neutral sites." Obviously every arena is a neutral site if no one is there so why should the players travel at all? Pick a few arenas in one area and play the rest of the season and playoffs there. If there are no fans, there is no need for travel. Could finish the season and playoffs quicker that way too.
The arena isn't neutral if the players live nearby and get to go home after the games. Las Vegas would be one good location. Lots of hotel rooms and not a home court for anyone.
Oh. And itsd be agathering of more than 10 people, so.... Plus with people infected and people who may be infected and dont know, etc....
The other teams probably do but does our team really need a coach? Just have some subs spread out across the arena or in the locker room.
He probably has multiple. I've been on an email chain where he responded and it was adam@nba.com and I couldn't believe it..haha
I agree with your fundamental point. At the same time, in times like these people need diversions, and to hang on to whatever normalcy they can in life. I feel pretty confident that every type of business, including the NBA, is more focused on how this impacts their business interests than any other issue, just as are the millions who are worried about losing their source of income. I'm not saying the NBA should come back any time "soon". Hell, the NBA may very well be shut down, at least to fans attending live games, for a year or more. And I personally am at peace with that. The NBA is going to continue thinking about the NBA. And so should its fans. If nothing else, for their mental health. (Yes, I know, "sports fan" "mental health" is an oxymoron ) (Mind flashes to image of lifeless sports fans aimlessly roaming empty streets like zombies after the apocalypse.)
Good call. Put up a half dozen inflatable sports domes out in the desert. Players could stay in those half-million dollar luxury motor homes. Parked at least 6 feet apart, of course.
I'm trying to imagine what it looks like if there's no home court, no fans, we dont have 7 game series, nobody has played ball in months, everyone is worried of infecting each other, everyone mental state from hundreds of thousands of deaths in the US. How would that even resemble an NBA championship? I think they'll eventually just decide to cancel the season. Maybe they do an end of season tournament, or honorary remembrance celebration. There wont be a 2020 NBA playoff or 2020 NBA championship.
